i don't care how they play ...
the only song i think they messed up is Knockin' on Heavens Door ... i really consider the old version better ... but this new version has its moments ... it's a good song...
and i realyy don't think they'll change civil war a lot ... i think they'll play a fair and cool version of it ...

I doubt the new band will ever play Civil War. They need to concentrate on playing more of their own material.

Lol. Yeah I thought the same thing.

Anyways.. I'm sure they could pull it off.. but.. this song does depend alot on Slash's tone. Would be interesting.

the song wuld be fine without Slash.   Its not like he can be there to play it, so I'm sure Robin or Ron or whoever gets the lead on the song would play it perfectly fine, maybe even better.

I would rather hear The General, Thyme or something else I have no privy to. (supposed songs)

Sorry - to all that never heard Civil War live but I have seen that song live many times over. Through many costume changes too!
If I was to pick an old song for GNR to do - I'd like to hear something like Nice Boys
Ok - I'm a purist and a total supporter of the recent GNR too - but the purists will flame me over this - I am sure

Who care?
You should be happy hearing songs from AFD the best album. Those new people had to learn every song + some more + the new songs and you are not happy??
This is a stupid tread.

Jesus, I hope they don't give Finck the lead on Civil War... nervous

i'm with you on that, they shouldn't have let him near patience either.

What happened?

« Reply #38 on: August 20, 2006, 12:54:23 PM »

altough the lead on Patience that Slash did was great, Robin Finck put his own stamp on the song, and many feel that it is really great. You are entitled to your opinion, but the fact is alot of people really like what Finck brings to the band, and I think that this will be alot more clear if we ever hear the album.

Remember, Axl hand-picked Robin. Axl is no idiot. He knows what he can do. I don't think the fucker would still be around if he was as talentless as some of you aresholes would like to think..
