Hey guys, I would be happy if you would tell me your opinions about my guitar solo.

On the link, you can see two guitar players, I am the SECOND ONE.

I've been playing for 2 years on that video.

My part starts at 3:30

That's weird, I never listen to Buckethead... But there are indeed a few Hendrix licks in there, so  peace

It was good, esp for only 2 years.. Very blues scaled, have you tried other styles.

The crowdd participation (clapping) was ingenious.  ok

Yes, I do try different scales, I'm doing some jazzy stuff also, with modals and stuff, but this one was supposed to be like that.  yes

First of all, it was very impressive that you, having played for 2 yrs then, could play like that. I've been playing for 2 years now, so I know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, remember that soloing (bluesy soloing especially) is about emotions, about feelings. Showing off IS important too, but it's secondary. A guitar solo has to live its own life, should be like telling a story. In my (humble) opinion, your solo had no intro and the shredding part was a bit out of place, maybe not necesarily in this solo, but in this part of the solo. I didn't manage, didn't have time to "get into" your composition, wasn't ready for this part.

I think you should've thought about giving more space to the solo (by repeating some frases or licks, making longer pauses, changing your tone a bit in the meantime). The solo has to have those "moments" and I don't mean they should be easily predictable or that the solo should be schematic, no, I only mean what is important to me while soloing is letting the audience know I enjoy every second of my solo and that I'm not playing for them, to impress them, that I'm just having a good time playing and I'm only letting them be a part of it (easier said than done, I know Wink ).

Other than that, I am aware that it is really hard to cope with stage fright and I'm pretty sure I speak for everyone here when I say you're a talented beast!
Rock on, Kov peace

cheers

The legendary guitarist said that he does have some contact with Guns n' Roses singer Axl Rose, however.

Wow I'd imagine the first guy to be A LOT better since he had been playing for 5 years. That was pretty good considering you've only played for 2 years. You'll probably pass up the other dude in no time if you havent already.
