? That is simply testament to the timelessness and greatness of Guns N Roses.? Plain and simple!!!

I love how everyone agrees the rest of the list is crap.....but GNR being on there is a testament to the "greatness of GNR".  Look. I love them too - but it's kind of odd logic.

I think this list is a testament to the timeliness and staying power of boy bands and country music.  Cheers!

I didn't go back and see the list, but I agree with your sentiments. I do know that greatest hits packages sell well no matter what.

I was just reading an article this morning saying that since 2001 Michael Jackson has re-packaged his two-disc HIStory to a one-disc set, released another greatest hits package, released a boxed set, then released another two-disc best of after that. To date the article said they sold somewhere around 3 million copies in the US alone.

If that ain't proof that a GH package will sell no matter what, then nothing is.

Look how many Greatest Hits/Live CDs that Aerosmith and Motley Crue have put out since '93 or so. Both have only recorded 2-3 studio albums, yet put out a Greatest Hits every few years.

I don't even consider GNRs Greatest Hits to be a real CD.
I still haven't bought, it and don't have any intentions on doing so anytime soon.

What are you talking about?  Look at the Billboard Top 100 albums right now... There are only 3 albums that are triple platinum (one of them being Greatest Hits) and Nickelback's CD which went 4 times platinum.  Greatest Hits may not be at the top of the charts, but hundreds of new CDs have debuted ahead of the CD and then disappeared in a matter of weeks.

Now you guys are saying "Well even Michael Jackson can sell a lot of Greatest Hits"... You're making a negative comparison to the biggest selling artist of all time?

I guarantee you if you release a greatest hits CD from a boy band ten years after they last released an album, it won't be as successful as this CD.  I didn't like the idea of releasing it, but as it stands it is one of the best selling albums released that year (probably in the top 10).

I think it would help then because with a GH you get a taste of the other albums if you don't have them and are a new fan to Guns N' Roses.

Awesome.  I can't wait until they have 2 albums on the chart and maybe a hit song in the Top 10.

3rd longest ever?  I think it's currently the longest stay?  Please clarify.

I think it could go both ways.  For instance when I was young, I bought doors greatest hits, but then loved it so much I went out and bought every album. At the same time, I remember back before GF was released, AFD would pop into the billboard 200 everyonce in a while, that will most likely never happen again with the GH out there.
