I heard SCOM on the radio prob about 5 years ago. Asked my best friend if he had heard of a band called guns n roses, he said have i!!
he played me appetite.
I got appetite and played it to death, i was hooked on raw rock n role guns n roses.

Then in my friends car a year later he played my UYI's At the time my fave song was shotgun blues lol, so crude and kick ass, but then i started to love the emotional songs like estrange and nov. Now TWAT is my fave song.

I was about 7 years old and a 'rocker' guy was walking down the street with an old school ghetto blaster on his shoulder playing Paradise City at full volume.  I think it was 1989.  I then got my mum to buy me the album

My Dad got the Greatest Hits when it first came out, and he played it to death in the car. Ever since I've been hooked.

I saw the video for Don't Cry many many years ago.  It must have been 1996 or thereabouts, and I'm only 17 now, so I didn't really pay much attention and promptly forgot all about it for years.

In about 2002 I switched on a radio just before the rock ending of November Rain, and the arcing guitar hooked me straight away.
"Who's this?"  says I.
"I think its Guns N' Roses," says my dad  "It sounds like Axl."
"Who's Axl, the guitarist?"
"The singer."

I assumed that he was dead, as the video for Don't Cry with Axl's grave (the only bit that I remembered, I didn't even remember the song) was all I had known of them before.  Shortly after that I saw Sweet Child on TV.  I was hooked.

I was 7 - found an AFD tape in my brothers room and jammed it in. The only band Id really listened to before then was the Doors.

I dont remember it, but it was 1987.
my dad bought AFD in the states, brought it here and played it.
there's a photo somewhere of me sitting on a speaker with AFD cover in the background.
(I was only 2 back then).

first time I remember listening to GNR on my own was in 1991, and it was "think about you".
it still is my favorite track.

As far as I can remember, it was at summer camp.  We were coming back from the beach, headed towards our camp site and some kid was blasting Appetite in his ghetto.  He kept playing the record over and over the entire time we were there.  By the end, everyone loved it and was singing along.

Dead horse indeed, but hell its GNR..  first heard SCOm, in summer of 87 on KNAC in Cali while on vacation. HAd no idea who the hell the band was cause I kept hearing the tune from the mid-end, and the DJ'S never said who was playing.TILL the very last day lsitening to my walkman, to KNAC on the plane back to NY while we were still taxi'd in the runway, the DJ says something to the effect and LAs own Guns n Roses. and I heard the song finally from the begining, the opening riff!.

Needless to say been hooked ever since , 20 yrs later .

That has got to be the funniest way to discover Gn'R.
