Chinese Democracy Is Coming Some Day!!!

« Reply #21 on: July 28, 2006, 05:13:23 PM »

I think guns need to open up a couple of shows with the Stones in the US. This would be one hell of a show. I would see this happening in huge markets, LA, or NY. I know this would get rave reviews and Axl needs that in the United States.

Didn't the Stones say they'd only play with Guns if Slash was involved?

Opening for the Stones could be really good.....or really bad.

Funny thing is, I can picture Axl going up to Mick and Keith and saying, "You know you guys are opening for me, right?"

Just so you know :

the stones have 2 dates in france.

The second date still has 6000 tickets for sale 1 week before the show.

It's bad.

fuck that!

how can Guns N' Roses even be remotely considered better than the Rolling Stones?

just by body of work, the Stones blow everyone one away.

for every Guns classic, I'll give you five Stones classics!

I love GN'R, but let's wait until 2026 to see if we're still talking about them.

I had tickets to the GN'R/Stones gig in Germany, which was cancelled supposedly due to Keith's injury. My theory on this is that The Stones heard about GN'R performances in New York and Europe and cancelled the 2 scheduled gigs for fear that GN'R would blow them out of the water.

are you serious?
that is insane.

anyway, there is a chance. the stones dont tend to have just one band open for them the whole tour. instead they have big bands (bands who would otherwise headline their own show) open one or two shows and then they give the slot to another band.
certainly a possibility for one or two shows (though they wont be doing the whole tour - of that you can be sure, its not the stones style) if their paths cross and axl can keep it in his pants.

Agree 100%.  Nobody bigger than the Stones.  It would be great for GN'R to open for them.

I'd hope not. Nothing against the Stones as I'm a huge fan, but I don't want to deal with outrageous ticket prices that I won't be able to afford. Hell, tickets for Aerosmith/Motley Crue this fall are $125 - can you imagine what they'd be for The Stones/GNR?

No thank you.

I don't forsee Axl Rose wanting Guns N Roses to be looked at as a nostalgia act.. Aerosmith/Motley Crue/Rolling Stones, they aren't doing anything relevant today. Guns N Roses upcoming release Chinese Democracy is going to have relevancy, meaning it's going to generate a lot of new fans, have mass appeal for radio markets, and be a sound album for non-corporate radio music fans to listen too as well. I don't see Axl Rose wanting to play back up to a nostalgia act anytime soon. I've also heard rumors that places such as The Palace in Auburn Hills are having dates blocked off for an upcoming gnr tour, if Guns was going to tour with the Stones, they'd be playing 40,000-60,000 seat venues.. not the palace. So I put my opinion of the chances of this happening at 0%.

Did you notice Axl's freaking setlist?

And the stones as a nostalgia act... maybe because they've been around for a while. But they've never stopped touring, just constantly rocking out doing their thing.

Axl's band is GNR and that name has been around for 20 years man.

I definitely agree his setlist selection makes Guns N Roses LOOK like a nostalgia act, but all of us know here that Guns N Roses is definitely more than that... The Stones couldn't put out relevant music right now if their lives depended on it.. i'm not knocking mick, he's a great showman for his age.. and the band is still good live. However, the new music they are putting out isn't relevant...
