Here's where the MP3 came from, in Ron's own words:

LATEST NEWS FROM BUMBLEFOOT (http://www.bumblefoot.com/) - 19 AUGUST 2003

PROFESSOR BUMBLEFOOT!
In September I'll be teaching a music production course at SUNY Purchase College (http://www.purchase.edu/), NY. More info coming soon...

BUMBLEFOOT CDs NOW AVAILABLE AT TOWERRECORDS.COM (http://music.towerrecords.com/towermusic?n=0&att=Performer+Bumblefoot&cs=Bumblef oot&csn=5&csr=1&csm=38257769&dym=1&act=M26&sid=456 73F424208)

Sometimes when a band I'm recording finishes a cover song, we all take turns laying a lead vocal track - just for fun, one take, fumbling through the lyrics... I've just finished recording Most Precious Blood (http://www.mostpreciousblood.com/) covering Sweet Child O' Mine for a G-n-R tribute CD (to be released by Law Of Inertia Records) I had sent my friend Joboj (http://www.gtrbque.com/) one of those "special" versions of the song, with myself on vocals. Last night, Joboj was a guest host on NoneRadio.com (http://www.noneradio.com/) and opened the show with it... MP3 available HERE (http://www.bumblefoot.com/artist/multimedia/MostPreciousBlood-SweetChildOMine-withBfoOt.mp3)...

So it's not a soundboard recording - it's a studio outtake.

Note: It's not supposed to be serious. I think it's hilarious.? Smiley

ROFL!

I've heard some funny things in my life, but that is just... is there a word to describe it? Hilarious isn't enough.

You da man, Dunkin, thanks!  beer

Oh yeah - and I hearby solemnly swear to stop doing my own crackhead versions of Sweet Child Of Mine (sound of gunners rejoicing... lol) In all seriousness, a good song can be interpreted 50 different ways that will all work - sometimes I like to explore some of that? Someone should start a help group for people who can't stop playing Sweet Child - SCOMbags Anonymous, or somethin'...

"hello my name is Bumblefoot, and I'm a SCOMbag."

Ron has an unbelievably good voice, not many people really appreciate how good it is and how talented he is. He could probably sing the vocals and play lead to every GnR song in the set and it'd sound better than what we get from Axl and Finck.

..now if BF could play the drums  hihi

Haha - actually he does, but reckons he "sucks at it" - there was a CD he did for a production company called Carlin which he did all the drums for a few years ago. At the time he said he pulled it off with some editing in the tracks.

Don't take SCOM so seriously, it was played as a joke, and he referred to it as "his own crackhead rendition" therefore, I really don't think it was meant to be note for note, or spot on. For what it was, it was good. It was certainly surprising to hear him play it, and he totally made that solo his bitch.

The videos on YouTube are mine, I do have more of "Real" "Rockstar for a Day" "What I Knew" and a few more of his solo songs. The show was a blast, Ron is a guy who just seems to love performing for people. He was hanging out before the show talking to everyone and supporting the opening acts, 24-7 Spyz and Shakerleg. The videos aren't the greatest quality, but they were filmed with a digital camera with limited video capabilities... It was an afterthought to film video, I brought my cam to get some images.

Here are the best images I have... I was at the bar most of the night, so didn't have the best vantage point, but I do think I got a few good shots.
