I was just thinking....most of the greatest bands had tension/rivalry between lead guitarist and singer.  For example:

Axl/Slash
Mick Jagger/Keith Richards
Steven Tyler/Joe Perry
Plant/Page

Now I wonder if any of that has gone on between the Axl of 1999+.  I mean it's been like 8 yrs since this band has been in the works, you would think that they would have some sort of tension at some point.  But if they have, they do a good job of hiding it.

Just a thought to discuss on.

If there was a rivalry, within this band it probably was between
Buckethead & Robin....Now that Bucket is gone i see no tension apart from maybe,
the band at one side & Axl on the other side...
But all is speculation...

as said before they hide pretty much everything very well. As for any tension in the band I doubt it, they seem to have a lot of fun and I can't see why there should be any serious conflicts.

by the way, always good with a little tension as long as it doesn't get the better og you.

Axl himself said at the New York shows that leading up to the shows he and Tommy were at odds. Something about Tommy telling him to fuck off.

But those bands were real bands, with equal contributions. Axl and this band are different, Axl pretty much is the band and everyone else is just hired hands.

Exactly. If in your job you have rivalry with your boss, you might be looking for another job pretty soon.
Axl is the boss. If someone in his band annoys him, he'll fire that person.

No, in the examples you gave, those rivalries took place when they were younger and achieved fame their first time around.. They'd fight over control and direction of the band.. Then soon broke up (temporarily) and produced subpar solo albums, then reunited.

Axl and most of the band are 40+, if any tension exists, it's that the band just wants to release an album already..

The only reason i wonder is because sometimes a little tension between band members can bring out the best in their abilities/performances.  So a part of me kinda wants that tension there, for that reason only; and i'm not inventing a problem that doesn't exist...i'm discussing band related stuff...cause for the next month or so, nothing is going to be going on.
