Honestly, I'm kind of underwhelmed by this album. The first two days after it came out, I enjoyed it, but it's quickly losing it's shine. It almost sounds too generic for Pearl Jam, and a lot of the songs don't seem to stand out for me. It's good, but...it just lacks that certain spark PJ has. Amongst the Waves, The End, and Just Breathe are pretty good, though.

It has good moments, but Backspacer is gonna be a dust collector in my room, unless I find something that just grabs me.

Sounds like him but definitely doesn't look like him. I didn't reckognize him at all...
Also, he did look a bit off. He hardly moved...it seemed like he was not really enjoying himself
Anyway, always cool when PJ performs Hunger Strike. I was a witness in Barcelona in sept 2006

Roger Daltrey and Eddie Vedder "Bargain" Seattle Oct. 12th
Daltrey then brought Vedder back out onstage and said, "if I can't hit the high notes here, I've brought someone who maybe can." On a killer version of "Bargain," Vedder did exactly that, and then some.

A-ha! Just Breathe has grown on me the most, I knew I couldn't dislike a PJ album!
I think all the other songs will firmly take root sooner rather than later.

They will.
This is an incredible album.
I was listening to Backspacer last night before I went to bed. It's amazing how music sounds through an ipod. Just Breathe is beautiful, but to me it's Amongst the Waves the one that does it. With certain, one of the best PJ songs ever.
I don't think there's one single song that I skip. This is - by far - the album of the year.

crazy story....i went to the Pearl Jam show last friday night in philly. sitting in section 217, row 17, and someone came crashing down on my head. they JUMPED from section 317 in the upper deck. slammed into my head and landed in the row in front of me. not sure of the exact height, but i'm guessing about a 20 foot drop.
i was carried out on a stretcher (last time ever leaving the philadelphia spectrum which is being knocked down soon), rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, and was given 4 CT scans/x-rays: head, neck/spine, chest, and abdomin. all were negative. i walked away with just a mild concussion.
i end up right next to the dude that jumped in the ER. he's bragging to his friends about what he did and how they have to "get their story straight and say he fell." he's drunk as hell and who knows what else he is on. i had the nurses call the police. i told them the story, they talked to him and got him to admit that he jumped. they said all they could get him with was simple assault and can't arrest him. but at least some police report was filed.
this happened during the first song of the show. it was a new song i didn't recognize, but they sounded incredible. pearl jam played the last 4 nights ever at the spectrum, and supposedly every show was great.

I do dig the new album. My favorite track at the moment, "Unthought Known".

Glad you're ok.
That could've ended very badly.
So the guy gets away with it just because you didn't get more seriously hurt?
