I am more in the middle, I kind of take in both sides and agree and disagree with each side on certain things but I'll never have the kind of attitude he and other liberals, rightwingers have. Its just bad for the world to be that way.
Wishy-washy, I believe is the technical term.

Granted Vedder is very liberal, whether you think thats a good thing, but I have always thought of him as pretty open minded D. I don't think he has ever displayed the type of attitude which you described and if he has I would like to see some evidence of it cause if anything I think you are lumping him in with a stereotype people have of democrats/liberals. I don't think he has ever suggested people who disagree with him should go fuck themselves like he is some sort of left wing tyrant. "Watch an Inconveniant Truth or sit on a fucking pole and drop dead!" Thats as rediculous as you're making it sound.

He hasn't and there is proof of this on the showbox dvd. He completely loses it doing the war tag during daughter. Then apologizes to everyone in the crowd and friends of his in the audience and in the millitary. He basically says maybe they're being told something the rest of us aren't etc and says they're entitled to believe what they want. He is just stating his
opinion.
Ed is a good guy who donates a lot of his time and money to charitable causes as do the other band members. I think the world could use more assholes ilke those five guys.

^True.
Most people I know don't like Pearl Jam's music by the fact that PJ didn't appeared on tv or whatever to promote themselves for some years. And I understand that.
But, as a true Pearl Jam fan, I must state that a lot of these people should "educate" themselves a lot more about what Pearl Jam do besides their music- which is still great after all these years, IMO. It's a lot of work, what they do.
Above all, they're humanists!
About politics, Eddie has the right to give his opinion and talk about it to the world. We choose what we want.

Eddie Vedder wins Golden Globe
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder won a Golden Globe last night for best original song.
Vedder won the gong for ?Guaranteed?, a song he penned for the movie ?Into The Wild? directed by Sean Penn.
Vedder was nominated in the same category on 2003 for a track he wrote for the movie ?Big Fish? but he lost to Annie Lennox.
This year?s best original score category was won by Dario Marianelli for his contribution to the acclaimed movie ?Atonement?.
Due to the writer?s strike, the awards were announced during a press conference as opposed to the usual glitzy ceremony.

Well that D/Jarmo lashing was obvious...
All that was... was D speaking the truth about what isn't said about Pearl Jam, and Jarmo, being from where Sweden... doesn't know what he's talking about because he's speaking from a outside point of view...
We here in the U.S. know politics and Jarmo, your opinion can't be tolerated to actually be accurate...
and by the way, aren't you a huge PJ mark?... Thought so... so no need to dissect D's post...

What?
Just because I'm not in the US I'm not allowed to have the opinion that I think it's ok for artists to speak their mind, even if the subject is politics?
Odd.....

I saw the movie over the weekend. The soundtrack is awesome. One of the new artists featured on there is Kaki King. I saw her live many months ago in a small place and she was sweet.
The movie is good....maybe not great, but worth seeing, I think.

ten was one best albums in the past 25 years.. PJ made great music but their politics have gotten sickening.
regarding your ripping of the US...
Don't the 300 or so people in your parliament tell you who your prime minister is going to be? i'll take my right to vote over being told by parliament. Also, I don't think anyone who lives in a country that has a tax rate of over 50% is in a position to criticize our political system.
Why is the US the most hated country? is it because of the war in Iraq? there was no debate that saddam killed 100's of thousands of Kurds while he was in power. Maybe since you don't know anyone who is a Kurd you don't think that it was necessary put a stop to the genocide.. If it were Jews that were being killed then i'm sure the sentiment would be different. Perhaps yours wouldn't since Sweden allowed the nazis to use there infrastructure back in the 30's and 40's.
speaking of nazis... I find it amusing how quickly Europeans forgot about the marshall plan. 18 billion dollars that the US contributed to rebuilding Europe after WWII. if you don't think thats a big deal now.. then just look at the economies of European countries that were benefactors of the plan vs the nations that were not.

I do sort of like Pearl Jam
Not a huge fan but I like about 10 songs a whole fucking lot. Id actually go see them in concert if I had the cash.
My point is, everyone acts like Eddie is some crusader who isn't a sellout like everybody else in the music business and I disagree.
He isn't a whore like most mainstream bands, but he isn't exactly walking away from his major label deal either.
I don't know wh at all he is involved in, bu t I hope as political as he is, he is out there busting his ass helping those less fortunate, Rebuilding neighborhoods, raising money for good causes.
If he is doing that I applaud him, if he isn't do a lot of that stuff, he should.

The band as well as Ed do a lot of charity work. Here is stuff they are involved with and this isn't even all of it.

. Also read the bands timeline and search for benefit. You'll see every benefit concert any member of the band has been involved in.

What's so bad about it? Honestly, i have yet to see a good argument why their politics are so bad. Its like people say just cause they're musicians they should just shut up and play music. Its like people think cause they are musicians they can't possibly be well informed and have educated opinons on them. They are human beings and citizens of this country too and have just as much right to express their views anyway they wish just as you do.
