I saw them in concert last year and Miller Lite was sponsoring the tour.

I haven't heard about anybody sponsoring their tours....

They're not signed to any label so it's obvious they need to distribute the music somehow.

The previous album was put out by J Records and I guess this time they're trying something different.

Didn't Verizon sponsor their last tour? Or was that only the bootlegs?

And speaking of sponsors, has anyone else ever seen the 1995 Sponsored By No One video? It's obviously a high-generation VHS copy, but there's still a lot of good stuff on it.

I think they did something with Verizon on the 2008 tour. Something like offering tracks to mobile subscribers...

Verizon had a heavy presence at the show I saw. I do know my ticket stub said "Miller Lite presents..." or something to that effect. I'm not accusing them of selling out. If you can get that money and use it to pay your crew more or whatever then I say go for it.

You should have seen the cover they wanted to do. It wasn't a glove, believe me.

Four shows that are five minutes away from my house.  (If you take the freeway.)

That will top GN'R's residence there in 2006.  I just need to gather some $$$$$ for those shows.

Pearl Jam is so good to their fans.

The new single "The Fixer" just debuted on their Myspace page.

Oh, and I managed to score tickets to the last Philly show, it should be sweet. It's going to be my first time seeing PJ.

They put on a great show, you'll enjoy it for sure.  I got to see them for my first time last summer and it was worth the wait.  They sounded great live.

I saw them once in 2006 in Barcelona. It was a dream show cause they play my favorite songs - all of them. I was a bit concerned about the setlist cause PJ varies the songs a lot from one show to the other, but I got to hear Yellow ledbetter, The Who's Baba O' Riley, Hunger Strike, I got Shit... it was mindblowing.

Looking forward the new album. Love "The Fixer".

By the way, if the Lakers make it to the finals next year, I'll come to LA to watch every home game.

The Fixer (2:57)
Producer:  Brendan O'Brien

Monkeywrench

The last time Pearl Jam checked in with the lead single from a new album, Eddie Vedder was snarling that a "war has taken over" atop an assault of guitars on "Worldwide Suicide."  Three years on, the veteran Seattle band returns with "The Fixer" (from its September album "Backspacer"), a song shot through with optimism at a level not seen since Pearl Jam's 1998 "Yield."  A sonic heir to that album's midtempo road ode "MFC," the similarly sub-three-minute track is punctuated with bright "yeah yeah yeahs" and downright rosy lines like, "I want to try to love again."  But with Vedder mixed down among Stone Gossard and Mike McCready's warm guitars and the throat-ripping moments of his delivery somewhat muted, there's a sense of reserve that makes "The Fixer" a tease for hearing PJ in its uninhibited natural setting: live. - JL
