The only PJ album I don't find that interesting is Vitalogy. It's good, but I can't get a hold of it. It's all over the place and to me sounds like an ADHD person on acid. The later stuff is pretty damn amazing and shows how deep a band can get. Overall PJ is a fantastic combination of raw energy and mellow melodies.

Wish they would finally find their way to Finland.

Vitalogy just takes a bit longer to connect with than their other albums because there is a fair bit of filler on there. Not for You, Nothingman, Whipping, Corduroy, and Better Man are all fantastic tracks, though.

Have they never played Finland?

They have, one time in the early 90's when they opened for Neil Young. But not since! Sad

PEARL JAM STATEMENT

It is with deep consideration and much regret that we must cancel the Raleigh show in North Carolina on April 20th.

This will be upsetting to those who have tickets and you can be assured that we are equally frustrated by the situation.

The HB2 law that was recently passed is a despicable piece of legislation that encourages discrimination against an entire group of American citizens. The practical implications are expansive and its negative impact upon basic human rights is profound. We want America to be a place where no one can be turned away from a business because of who they love or fired from their job for who they are.

It is for this reason that we must take a stand against prejudice, along with other artists and businesses, and join those in North Carolina who are working to oppose HB2 and repair what is currently unacceptable.

We have communicated with local groups and will be providing them with funds to help facilitate progress on this issue.

In the meantime we will be watching with hope and waiting in line for a time when we can return.

Perhaps even celebrate.

With immense gratitude for your understanding,

Pearl Jam

I think his anger is rightly justified, no matter what kind of personal conflicts they had before he was fired. He is a big part of the history of PJ and that's that.

Not the first, or last, time that someone disagrees with what that hall of fame is doing...

Dave has a far stonger case than any CD era GNR guys did, that's for sure.

Literally impossible to deny that those first 2 albums don't form a lot of what Pearl Jam is in the eyes of the many.

Don't forget Vitalogy (which Dave is also on).

Thing is, they got so specific with the criteria here, it makes it pretty much impossible to keep him out.

I mean, given the criteria, that's why Boom Gaspar doesn't get a nod.  I think 'Riot Act' might have been his first album with them.  And even the biggest Pearl Jam fan on the planet can't include his era in terms of their most influential stuff.

Truthfully, I know Eddie has a pretty good relationship with Jan Wenner, and he's pretty much the big chief.  If Eddie didn't want Dave included, that's just a phone call.

But trying to turn this into a "guess Axl had a point, after all" type of thing...get real.

I'm guessing the band doesn't want Dave anywhere near the stage that night.

He had a point. No one knows why, this hall of fame does things the way they do.
Which they once again have proved.

Just because you agreed with them in one case and disagreed in the other, doesn't mean you're right.
Well for you it does, since you're never wrong. But....   hihi

I'm sure that's part of it too.

A guy that left on bad terms, you generally don't want to give him an open mic at what should otherwise be a happy event for you.

Same could be said about many bands...
People were fired, quit and/or bands broke up. Still, they were inducted.

I never get a move like that.

You are already on the outs.  How does an outburst like that help?  It only further confirms you should remain on the outside looking in.

I would have expected Dave to be included but since he seems intent on acting like a petulant child i can see why he's not. He did play on Vs and Vitalogy after all. Maybe if he had played on Ten it would be different but given his behavior i doubt it.

Am I imaging things, or didn't Dave briefly jam with Guns' before or after Josh Freese?

I'm a bit surprised Jack Iron wasn't considered as well. He played on No Code and Yield and co wrote fan favorites such as Who You Are, in My Tree, Red Mosquito and I'm Open.

That was the rumor at the time. Back in 1997.
