Why couldn't Axl just do the right thing for once?
The right thing? He wasn't even supposed to perform tonight you tit; Yet, he almost finished the entire set with the exception of Nightrain's outro and Paradise City. So, to you the right thing for Axl to do was to risk his health?

You don't even appreciate the fact that he performed for over 90% of tonights show while being ill. Your whining disgusts me.

Self-inflicted = No sympathy.
Oh my, it's too fucking bad that what you're referring to as "self-inflicted" was a surpise acoustic gig for the fuckin' fans.  Roll Eyes

Yeah all 20 of them, 15 no doubt blonde busty and 'easy'...

The blown voice excuse was created on here and blown out of the water by Mercky Merck. High blood pressure. Likely caused by excessive alcohol consumption, insufficient sleep causing stress and by dehydration.

Unless something comes out in the press release to follow this debacle, its nothing more than Axl taking the rock n' roll lifestyle too far and messing up a gig on the back of it.

Its not the end of the world, but it will be interesting to see what the press make of it all and its not the ending we wanted for this great tour.

Some people are blowing this into something far larger than required, almost as bad as the lash out reaction the press normally show. Give the guy a break. He is ill and tried to put on a show. By all accounts what he did do during his time on stage tonight was give the fans a kick ass gig. This has been a awesome tour and Axl is back. Celebrate the good that we've had this year and try not to make so much negative stuff out of something minor.

That's too bad that he couldn't do the last song, but Christ it's not the end of the world. He did 99% of a show when he was advised to not do any of it. I don't know if any of those complaining are aware of this but screaming your lungs out for two and a half hours everyday is actually kind of difficult. A shocker, I know. Sometimes singers blow their voices out and feel that they can't possibly go on. Only in the Guns N' Roses world would some comment this way:
Person A: "Dude, Axl blew out his voice on the last song of the set and couldn't do the encore! They told him not to go on before hand but he wanted to give the fans the show they paid for and deserved so he gave it a shot and did great but just fell short in the end."
Person B: "That fuckin' asshole!"

Hope we're all prepared for the bashing GNR is gonna take in the press. It's not gonna be pretty.

Who reads the press and who cares?

You should care. Lots of people read the press; casual music fans who will make or break "Chinese Democracy." A few thousand die-hards are not gonna make the CD a hit. They need fans, and the lasting impression that the press is gonna give fans until the next show is that Axl had to skip part of the show for whatever reason.

On the one hand, it's rock and roll and playing late night gigs with loads of slut around is great kudos  Grin But when you've got a lot of bridges to build like this band has, this is probably something they could do withouy.

But everyone on here is gonna look for any little reason to give the band shit until the album  comes out right?

So just chill out and get on with life until it does  ok

I am, and none of that stuff, especially stress, can be blamed for hypertension at Axl's age. It's a public misconception. He did absolutely the right thing- treated the fans last night, tried to put on yet another great show tonight, but just couldn't manage the last song. That happens all the time with other bands- look at Korn at download- and mostly they don't try what Axl did tonight.

Give the man the credit he deserves.

If its true he had high blood pressure then he by right shouldnt have even performed tonight. It wasnt a head cold or something like that he had. high blood pressure is a serious thing.

Rather than bitching about him we should be really hoping he is ok. As Nu gunner has said, this can be a serious problem. Come on, show some support and don't be so quick to attack.

I'm thinking "blown vocal chords" was the excuse Bach made up and "High blood pressure" was the excuse Merck made up to hide whatever the real problem was.

If he had high blood pressure before the show, maybe Axl felt faint and decided to leave the stage before collapsing.

Stress clearly can cause hypertension. As people have pointed out I will say no more until the press release is out. But I will stand by my statement that if caused by high blood pressure with no underlying problems, then Axl takes the flack.

Sounds to me like this is no big deal at all. Looks like... oh I don't know... about 99% over-reaction on the part of everyone on the board. Again.

I think that's likely what happened. I'm sure the man didn't want it to end this way- if he'd put himself through the show, I'm sure he must have felt pretty acutely ill if he couldn't manage the final bow, and a see you next year.

And busngabb, stress cannot cause hypertension. It's a myth. High blood pressure for a minute or two, yes, but not pathological and not enough to feel at all ill.
