but axl didnt play the first single did he? but axl didnt say the official release date to the cd did he? brian may didnt show up did he? catcher in the rye wasnt performed right? axl played no new songs we havent heard yet correct? this makes up for nothing and it makes up for no complaints? rant

Jesus Christ, where in the hell was it said that those things were going to happen? ?Nowhere!!! ?Those things were never, ever promised so you have no right to complain about them not happening.

We got half a set then Axl disappeared - no explanation, and Seb Bach finished Nightrain and Paradise City and then - over!

Half a fuckin set?? Half a set??  He didn't finish one song and he didn't sing one other!!  Unless he only played 4 songs....then they got fuckin over 95% of the show!!!

I stepped away from this board for about an hour, hoping that I'd cool off, but this is still ridiculous.  The man could have nearly had a heart attack tonight, and you guys just wanna bash his brains in.  How DARE he not be 100% totally healthy, really?

And you did get an explaination.  Merk explain what the hell happened.  Yeah, Axl was probably getting some medical attention. They have paramedics at every show, I was treated by one near the stage at Hammerstein.  I guess he should have come back on stage with a blood pressure cuff hanging off his arm and a cold compress on his head...possibly on a stretcher....  "Sorry folks, I couldn't finish the set because I thought I might die."

The night isn't over yet, I'm guessing we will get a press release tomorrow.

I think I'm done with this thread...and the haters. You guys are making my head and heart (emotionally) hurt.

I know hun *hugs*

I think I'm done with this thread too... I can't deal with the disgusting, ugly, greedy, and hateful selfishness of some people... and to think I once respected the views of some of them!

Reading hateful posts like "Axl never apologizes" or "Axl should have apologized himself instead of sending Merck to do his dirty work..." just makes me want to go and whack someone upside the head with a fucking sledgehammer!

AXL IS A HUMAN FUCKING BEING NOT A FUCKING MACHINE!!!

And they call themselves Guns N' Roses fans.... HA!!! A fan wouldn't fucking bash the living brains out of the frontman for blowing his vocal cords!!

Jeez, if a man blows his vocal cords during a gig you just know he was giving it his all!! And that's fucking rock n' fucking roll!! WHY CAN'T YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT!!!!?

calm down how can we calm down?

the bottom line is this:

1. axl did not announce the official release date of the cd on the july 30 show when everyone thought he would with high expectations for him to do so

2. axl did not play/announce the first single off the cd on the july 30 show when everyone thought he would with high expectations for him to do so

3. axl did not play more new songs we have not heard yet on the july 30 show when everyone thought he would with high expectations for him to do so

4. brian may did not show up to play Catcher in the Rye and Catcher in the Rye was not performed like everyone thought it would be

5. axl gives the gnr fans no hope of a single and no hope of the cd coming out this year 2006 when he told that radio station it would come out 2006

this is the bottom line

this is the truth and why we cant calm down ?rant

I think they should have just ended the show after nightrain. Sending Baz out to play Paradise City with six other guys who aren't on Appetite fo Destruction is a bit of a joke. The press is going to have a field day with this.

Some of the so-called "haters" are not haters, at all.  I'm a big fan of Axl (musically) and am rooting for the new music and the tour -- and, generally, the European tour went well.

But why are you automatically labelled a "hater" when you call it like it is:

1.  Axl is routinely very late to start.  Not just "a little late" -- instead, he often makes fans wait 90 minutes or more between acts.  And it makes no difference if that means that the working class fans either have to leave the gig early or miss public transporation to get back home.  "Oh, but that's just Axl!"  Bullshit: I can't think of any other major band that does that over and over to fans and gets away with it.  Why is this complete self-centerdness "okay"?

2.  Although he does better this tour, he still storms off stage with some regularity.   Of course, NO OTHER rock star is ever hit with objects while performing, but ignores it because the 9,999 other fans paid good money and had nothing to do with the object that was thrown.

3.  I've been to gigs where singers have "blown out their throat."  You know what a respectful, grown-up singer does in the worst case scenario:  they come out, apologize to the audience, and state that they can't finish the show or (like Bono and Springsteen have routinely done) they ask the audience to sing the songs.  They don't just disappear and send out friends and cronies with (likely bullshit) stories.  (And if you don't think that the second gig at 6am this morning had ANYTHING to do with the end of this gig, I got a great bridge to sell you.)

I'm sure this makes me a "hater."  But I feel like I have lot more self-respect than all the fools posting the sycophantic " AWWW, GET WELL SOON, AXL" b.s.

I have to agree with this post 100 percent.

Axl's reputation is at fault here and its easy for people on here to call other's names, but I know if I had spent tons of cash to go see this, id be on here pissed off as well.

Axl is the reason Ill never buy a ticket and watch GNR. No matter how much I love this band, Its just too unsafe of an investment and I dont have that kind of money to risk.

Watching your favorite band in concert shouldnt be like a crap shoot.

I think it would be better if Axl started and ended shows early.  But, he doesn't.  That doesn't make it "right", but if you know this about him, you can choose to not buy a ticket to see the band.  You have a choice.

That "storming off stage" thing is slanted at best.  He goes back stage to get oxygen often.  You don't know his state of mind, so you don't know if he's going off stage out of anger, and "storming off".

I am a singer, and I've blown out my vocal cords before and what you do to heal is to not use your vocal cords, not even speak.  That will help your recovery be as speedy as possible.  That's what I've been told.  Believe me, even speaking can be painful with damaged vocal cords.

There is NOTHING sychophantic about wishing an ill person well.  That's a pretty cynical perspective to me.

He just missed less than two songs of an entire tour.  Calm the fuck down everyone.

Pathetic.

All that was speculation and rumor made up by some people on this board. Except the last one which is not true, you don't know shit what's gunna happen. Just because Axl hasn't given a precise date means NOTHING. If CD comes out in the fall you're gunna look pretty damn fucking STUPID!

Quit. Fucking. Bitching.

The problem is that all those expectations and hopes are not rooted in fact, but in gossip and innuendo. ?That's why you have no right to complain. ?Those things were only rumors with no remote resemblance to fact. ?No offense, but you should do a better job of differentiating fact from rumors and gossip. ?That way you won't get let down so much.

every guns n roses fan said these things would happen tonight with high expectations but they didnt. this tells me axl is a liar to that radio station. because there is still no official release date and we are almost in august 2006! there is still no single to radio and again we are almost in august 2006! the first single was never played at any of these europe greatest hits tour shows. which leads me to believe there will  be no first single this year because axl because of his perfectionism to the extreme has not even picked out the first single. the cd isnt ready to come out. the europe GH tour happened to cover up the fact the cd isnt ready for this year for release. everyone bought it hook, line, and sinker. you all are still buying it. so bittersweet this tragedy, so bittersweet it is.

doesn't really matter what the press says anyway.  If people went by the press, no one would go to the shows, no one would have bought the greatest hits cd, and so on and so forth.  Only a very very small percent of people actually read those articles anyway.  It's not going to hurt the guys in the states when they tour here.   It wasn't the best way to end a tour at all, but it was nothing catastrophic.  It's all fucking ok.

no it was expected by GUNS N ROSES FANS. there's a difference. it was supposed to happen. axl was supposed to announce the official release date on this final show of the greatest hits tour "europe style" it was supposed to happen. the first single was supposed to be played tonight too. because a single needs to be on radio for any realistic cd release this fall. but that didnt happen either. brian may was supposed to show up tonight too. but he was a disappointing no show again. he was supposed to play Catcher in the Rye on stage with gnr. but this didnt happen either. another disappointment. a sad let down for guns n roses fans. im not what you say i am because im telling the truth and you just cant handle the truth. because you cover it up like merck and axl continue to do with excuse after excuse. 15 years worth of excuses and the cd is still not out. its still not out ?rant

You didn't read the thread did you? ?The first half of the thread was people saying "don't expect too much, because it probably won't happen. ?We hope it will, but it probably won't "

I know I said it, and at least 3 or 4 other people did too. ?Just because it is your expectation, doesn't mean it's every gnr fan's expectation

It is unfortunate that this happened, but at least Axl came out and tried to do the show. And he actually did most of it, only missing half a song, plus the encore. There may be a few reports about it in the press, but it really isn't that big of a deal overall.

Hopefully he's alright, and I do hope we get some news soon and a North American tour as well. He handed out a trip to see them play in California last night, so clearly he intends to keep going.

As for the lack of "surprises", nobody said there would be a surprise except for a bunch of negative internet fanboys. And they were right, the show had a surprise ending. ?hihi

They will be fine as long as they release Chinese Democracy. Letting Sebastion sing Pardise City, without anybody who originally recorded it, to close out the final GnR show of the European tour, is a fucking joke.
