A hair's breadth!!

« on: July 31, 2006, 06:56:03 PM »

Seeing as the tour was a success without a new album (or anything hinting at one) do you think he'll be able to manage a possible NA tour in the fall without a new album, single, announcement?

Later shows in the tour had less "new" music than the first few shows.  Thae band sounds tighter now than in 2002 and Axl sounds better. Axl said he felt "pressured"  hihi into doing that tour. Now it appears he's happier and is enjoying it out there.

Maybe he can pull it off. Go Axl!

He's definately gained confidence and gained a lot of respect from many people (including myself).

The icing on the cake would be the CD.

After that - its world domination once again ?yes

Confidence has been gained.

But if no single or release date is announced, watch his confidence plummet.  Tongue

I'd have to say yes, but this is Axl Rose and Guns N' Roses.? The minute we think something's gonna happen, it doesn't.? Let's hope the album drops this time around.

I would say he has gained confidence in the bands ability to play the old songs better, but still isn't ready to take the quantum leap and be judged on his own stuff yet. He has the best of both worlds right now. He can make a good buck touring around by playing the old stuff, but never has to put his reputation/legacy on the line by actually releasing an album. He keeps teasing the fans just enough that they don't lose interest, but also avoids having to deal with how releasing an album will change the dynamic with the fans in regards to GNR as a whole.

I agree to a certain point, but he really needs to start thinking about actually releasing some new material as people will not wait forever and its been so many years already. I say it should be released between the end of this year and the end of next year at the very latest.

Otherwise confidence  and respect will decrease and impatient fans will increase.

Very true to everything.  This is pretty much all for nothing if the album isn't coming out.   It would be damn ridiculous if it wasn't released this year.

I really dont think there is a choice. Sure, these concerts were definetly a success, but remember, these were festivals, with lots of bands. Not ALL were there to see gnr,  they helped sell tickets, but they were not alone. Just remember 2002 in the usa, NO ALBUM=FAILED TOUR. Either get the old guys back together and let them play their music, or give the new guys a chance to notch there identity in the new gnr, with new music.

The European tour was a cake walk for Axl. I still think he is apprehensive about touring North America... and with good reason. I think it would be in Axl's best interest, if he's not going to release the album before the North American Tour, to do a theatre tour. Otherwise he's going to be playing to half empty arenas and causing riots when he goes on late. The way he behaved on the European tour does not bode well for touring the US and Canada. Starting shows at midnight in arenas will not be tolerated over here. I've seen the band twice now, so all I want is the album, before Axl pulls a Jim Morrison and gets himself banned from touring here. It sucks that Axl has to behave himself over here, nobody enjoys his anti-authority behavior more than me, but Axl's going to have to play by the rules or he won't be allowed to tour here.? ?

oh it absolutely was successful, but if there's no album go go along with all this, you gotta ask yourself what the hell was it for?  Although it was awesome that Guns are back out on the road, the question still remains, is Axl really planning to do this with no album coming soon?  Doesn't make much sense really.

It's a possibility. He may be more inclined to do it without an album after the recent success he had. After all, why should he rush things now if he can get away with it?

He's having success now, but it won't last for long in the states without an album.  I think it's a completely different deal here in the states than it was in Europe.

I hope axl is very confident, he just put on a kickass tour, and in my eyes proved that he is the best frontman in the game today. I saw Axl at the may 15 show, and it was the best show of my life. Axl and GNR SHOULD be the biggest band in the world today, because they are by far the most talented.

I cant wait to see you in the states GNR.

A record would be great too!

I never really thought Axl Rose was one to lack confidence in the first place. But I'm sure it was healthy for the band and Axl to bond through a successful tour as part of the natural progression of becoming a touring band and a band that's going to stay together for a long, long time.

he absolutely gained back the faith in himself. No doubt  : ok
GNR 's management seems to have a "plan" this time around

It is pretty simple and said a million times by nearly every poster before:

A full blown US-Tour is only possible if we get a single at the time when the tour starts (September) and an album before christmas.

If that doesn't happen i honestly can't imagine that Axl finds the force to get off his couch once again.

But i learned to believe again too. The european tour was not for nothing. It was a "testing the waters" - kind of thing and that obviously worked out pretty great.

It's gonna be a very interessting fall this year peace
