I hate to use Limp Bizkit as an example, but...

When LB was promoting "Choclate Starfish" they released two singles--I think "Rollin'" and "My Generation," to two different stations. One was more of a rap song, the other more of a rocker.

What if GN'R released "Better" and CITR at the same time?

Although I think the band would be better off releasing "The Blues" and "IRS."

IMO the record company will milk this for all it's worth...let a single drag on then then drop another...instead of hitting us with 2 at once

They can still milk the album for all it's worth. But they might want to consider two singles at first:

A rocker- Maybe IRS for the frat boys and metal heads.
A balled- For the chicks.

This way, everyone, soccor moms, metal-dudes, frat boys...teenage girls...everyone will get something and go buy the album.

yeah but only the ones who are more like chicks hihi j/k peace

personally i would think a middle-of-the-road tune like CW or DC would be an ideal choice...a bit of rocking out and a bit of the sensitive side

Well that's hands down the best news Ive read on here this week.. Grin

I only wish you asked Richard if Brian May's parts will remain on the song, or if he or Robin will re-record it instead.. Wink

As I said in so many words in James' thread about CITR, I think a studio version of this song will definately be a must-hear masterpiece.. ok

He's answering e-mails sent in April right now. Do you think it's a good idea to send yet another e-mail at this point?

For the past year Richard has been very open and honest with the fans.  Why, and Im not complaining, but why is he so open?  When Tommy was doing interviews in 03-04 time period, he would say things and they would be way off from anything that happened, but from day one Richard has been no bullshit with the fans.  Can that be because management allows it, or is that just the kind of guy he is?

"Hi Nick,
Thanks for taking the time to write to me.  I appologize for the lengthy
delay in responding to your email.  I've been trying to catch up on my
website emails while I'm on this tour.  Not that easy though, i'm still
only at April and I've only got 2 more weeks left on the tour!  Starting
a band is a difficult thing.  You've got to find musicians that are in
to the same type of music as you and are as serious as you are.  Once
you've got a group of players together that you like, you've got to get
out and play as much as possible, any way possible.  It's a long, long
road.  Buy some computer recording gear and concentrate on writing and
recording as well.  You have to really sink every bit of energy and
time in to it if you want to become successful.  I hope that you get to
see us on this current tour.  Thanks for you support and good luck with
the band!
richard"

I just asked him for advice on starting a band and stuff...i thought he was going to say something like "hey thanks for the e-mail i hope you like the new record in fall and i hope you see us on the us tour" but he actually replied!

I got this one today :

Thanks for taking the time to write to me.  I appologize for the lengthy
delay in responding to your email.  I've been trying to catch up on my
website emails while I'm on this tour.  Not that easy though, i'm still
only at April and I've only got 2 more weeks left on the tour!  Sorry
about any confusion or concern i caused by taking the dates off of my
site.  I took them down at our management's request.  They didn't want
there to be any confusion in case any of the dates were changed.  Hope
you were able to see some of the shows.
richard

I asked why he had taken the dates off his site.
