Not really anything new but thought id post anyway. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to everyone at the message board and our favourite band GNR

 Thanks for sharing steve.

Honestly, I wouldn't expect anything new at this point---all we know is that Richard is apparently still recording stuff-and gathering from the tone of his letters in September until now-he clearly didnt expect to be. If anything is close to happening with guns for 2006, i think it's safe  to guess  it wont happen till the early summer. Right now, whatever Tommy has (or doesnt have) to say on the subject after the holidays will show us where this is going or if it will remain stuck in neutral or burn out totally.

Hi Mike,
Thanks so much for taking the time to write. Sorry it has taken me so
long to reply to your email. I guess some of these questions might not
be relevant now, but I'll answer the best I can.
1. I did Nena's last studio record. It sold double platinum in Germany,
Austria and Switzerland. I am currently directing the live dvd from the
tour we just finished. We will probably begin writing a new record in
the near future.
2. Not much of my writing style has been included on the new Gn'R as
most of the songs had been written before I was in the band.
3. The state of the new Gn'R record- it kicks ass and i hope it is
released very soon, but I'm not comfortable guessing as to when.
4. I hope that the next tour that I do will be with Guns, and I hope
that it is very soon.
Thanks for the questions, and hope to see you very soon.

well, more and more I think that we have to forget about all the others members and just go find a way to talk to axl... is obviuos that is something goin on for months ( why not YEARS? ) and Merck and Mysteron always says that "when we have news, we will let you know" ... OMFG, "news" aren?t just about the RELEASE DATE godamn!! bring axl to talk about one of the songs... about the record... for God?s sake

See this is what is absurd- Axl isn't in the studio doing new material-he's still working a songs that were composed in probably 2001 or earlier! Dude, tweaking a different vocal piece or guitar part ain't gonna make it that much better or worse! Let the material as it is speak for itself!

Well, it appears Richard has gone the way of talking in generalizations-guess thats not surprising...i know the guys on Sp1at (once again no groans) say that Brain has been advised not to speak with them on any subject...secrecy doth work against you Mister Rose!

Whew, glad that's off my chest!

At least these guys have other things they can do and aren't relying on just GnR for their bread. Whatever happens with guns, I'll always have respect for them for sticking it out as long as they have, and for their amazing indivdual talents. yes

A couple of months ago I was pretty syked about the possibility CD coming out early next year.  But with the news of recording still going on, I'm at the point that I feel we are no closer to an album release than we we're 6 years ago.  It's the same vicious cycle year-in year-out.

I agree. I don't understand Axl. Fuck, let Richard write his own parts! He has been in the band since 2002, not since yesterday.

Yes, this is definitely pathetic, but I've known this to be true for quite some time. A journalist told me a long time ago that GNR was working on material from before the 2002 tour. Several people at the forums have told me that was bullshit. Thanks Richard for confirming that what I was told is true.

Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

« Reply #228 on: December 25, 2005, 05:31:54 PM »

This is completely ridiculous. I still can't believe it. So 4 YEARS LATER Fortus is still re-recording some guitar parts from another person? from fucking Tobias "yoko ono" or Dave Navaroo or Gary "pornstar" Sunshine of the muppet-head buckethead robotic show or fucking whatever? hey, I want to hear Richard's parts, I want to hear him play his own parts, I want to hear his owns solos, his own rythmic part, his own fucking ideas. Fortus prooved he can play and rock like a cool dude on his demos. Listen to "dead again" or "dead man" or "Western" or "Ode to Ennio", it's brillant, Richard can create great guitar pieces of music. Why Axl doesn't let him his chance? That situation really starts to annoy me, Axl starts to annoy me a lot. What a dick. The man lives like a recluse. It would be good to be down to earth again, Axl. Musicians are not socks!

I'm surprised at how specific Richard has been getting in concern to details about the CD situation. I'm surprised Axl hasn't put a stop to it. Its great Richard has the courage to speak about this, but I think he is risking his position in the band by doing so.

If Richard (or tommy as well) left or is fired, Axl can fuck off. I will absolutely stop supporting him.

The album might be able to continue without Richard, but it would take years redoing what he has redone. But I think if Tommy leaves, CD is over. The same could probably be said about Robin. But if any member leaves in 2006 it is going to really lessen the chance of this album ever coming out.

Now I understand why Slash left.
I was reading a music magazine, and there was an article written about Coldplay while they were mixing their last album. The interviewer was talking to their lead singer, and all of a sudden, he said," After listening to this about 8 million times, you reach the point where you've got to just let it go." Those comments immediately made me think of the GNR situation. How many times have they worked on it? How many times can you listen to the same exact songs for years on end without getting sick of the process? At some point, Axl or another member is going to have a major case of CD burnout. I think this CD situatuion is unprecedented. It could be the first time that a band is completely sick of and burnt out on a record before it is even released.

Get your facts straight man. Richard writes all his own solos. What he meant by his ides not being included on cd is songs that he wrote by himself and things like that. He has allready proved with "the blues" that his solos are included because he was the guy who wrote the outro solo on that song.  ok

Not too be picky, but do you have a source for that?

We know Robin wrote the solo for The Blues but Ive never heard Richard or anyone close to the band say he wrote the outro, despite how brilliantly he plays it.

As much as I love the Boston promo version, I would go with the Pittsburgh one anytime!

BTW, when I first listened to the promo, I thought it was Brian May! Smiley

nah, the Toronto outro is the best: Richard made his guitar cry. This outro is genius. The first time I heard it, it reminds me Slash.
