Cool, thanks YG.

I think this email is a good example of people putting together thoughtful and decent questions/thoughts to band members and them opening up a little more. ?

The last couple replies that Richard sent by email were very vague to the emailer, and then when you read their questions I was like, "wtf, why would richard even respond to this shitty letter?" ?All those questions about when CD is coming.... i won't tell anyone when CD will be released if you tell me...... ?

I know Younggunner has been respectful in his past questions to Tommy etc. so let this be an example to everyone that if you don't pester them with stupid shit, you'll actually get a cool and personable response like this one. ?

I remember Axl telling the story about trying to get to Radio City for the VMAs.? Security was tight and they had to run the last few blocks in the rain to get there.? And then I think they had a hard time getting in, too.? hihi

Younggunner:  Very cool post.  Thanks man.   ok

I want to believe it's '06 so bad, but dammit, sometimes I feel like a battered woman.   crying  I keep believing things are gonna get better...but they don't.  Sad

I don't know why I believe it'll be '06, because we've heard it's coming soon for so long.

Again, thanks for posting that Younggunner.   beer

Since there were different threads about getting replies from Richard, I merged them all into one. No need to post about that all over the place. From now on, please post the emails you get from Richard in this thread.

Hi Joe,
thanks for checking in.? I'm on my way back to NY for a few days.? I don't have any plans to do a show in NY till after the first of the year.? Maybe sometime in Dec. but not sure.? I'll definitely let you know.? I've been trying to answer as much mail as possible, but very overwhelming.? I try and answer 5 a day or more.? Getting sort of sick of the same questions over and over, but sometimes people have some good ones.? Have been a couple of nasty ones.? I like those the best.? People are funny with how they choose to occupy their minds!? Things seem to be picking up some steam in Gn'R world.? Only time will tell. how are things with you?
thanks and speak to you soon,
richard

i really hope he is cool with me posting this. he didnt just give me the generic response. im going to write him back!

Hi Greg,
I live in the Lower East Side.  I play out every once in a while with
different things.  Keep checking my site for up-coming shows.  What
band were you playing with a few years ago around the city?  I was in a
NYC band called Honky Toast a few years back.  We were on Epic records.
it was a very NY band.  My setup with Guns is basically 2 old Plexi
Marshall's that have been modified by Jose.  I bought both of them off
of Mick Mars.  They were his main amps for years.  I use those with
another stock plexi and a 2 Diezels.  I have a Bradshaw switching
system.  I use a Hiwatt tape echo and a pcm80 with some pedals as well.
The pedals seem to change a lot, but mainly use a Klon Centaur and a
Hermida Mosferatu.  On Madagascar i use a Fernandez sustainor guitar to
get that sound.  I flick the octave switch to get that high controlled
feedback sound. My main guitar is a '73 Les Paul Signature.  I have 2
of them (both gold top's).  I have a pretty big collection of old
guitars, so my live guitar line-up changes pretty regularly.
As for Brain, he talks a lot of ghetto shit about only doing it for the
$.  Bottom line is, he loves it.  He's one of the greatest drummers
I've ever played with.  The dude is just sick!  As for Axl, if it was
strictly business, none of us would have stuck around for as long as we
have.  I consider him family.  He's a beautiful human, not at all like
how he is perceived.  You have to realize that he CHOOSES not to defend
himself in the press.  He believes that all that matters is the music.
I respect that so much.  As for Bucket, I was cool with him.  Haven't
heard from him since he left.  He's a very strange dude.  Not exactly
"stable", but I got along well with him.  He's a great musician.  Don't
give up on us, we are making progress and things are starting to roll
very quickly now.
thanks for you kind words and support.
richard

> im 28 yrs old, huge gnr fan, and i saw the band twice in 2002, CT and NYC. you had alot of energy on stage, i gotta hand it to you, its gotta be tough playing old songs written by different people. but you were totally rockin on stage, it was a nice surprise. and u had great tone, i totally dig what you were doing on madagascar. what that pure feedback after the chorus' or a cool delay? whats your live set up when you play with gnr? im a les paul into my versatile Line 6 amp kinda guy, couldn't lug around the marshall 4x12s anymore!!  are you coming to nyc anytime soon, as a solo act?
>

« Reply #96 on: November 21, 2005, 03:59:35 PM »

wow thats awesome man!! thats something about axl, how he chooses not to defend himself and wants to let the music do the talking. i found it interesting how he turned it around and said that if it were just strictly business no one would've stuck around for this long, and he considers axl family etc..
this is very good news im so pysched, that made my day ?ok

Wow great response. One of the best ever. I still hope they reach out to Bucket when the time is right, but it looks hopeless at this point.

Fantastic news.
