I have a big digital SLR camera that I wanted to take with me to the show on Saturday (I have seats near the stage) and was wondering what people's experiences of taking cameras into wembley is like. The camera I have is pretty bulky (unlike one of those ones that fit in your pocket) so there's no way I could disguise the fact I'm taking the camera in. Nevermind the fact I was also going to take a 300mm lens to stick on the end and get some close up shots

If they confiscate cameras I don't trust them not to damage it or lose it... do you reckon I'll be able to take it in?

Well Wembely are pretty strict with security, if memory serves they do the usual of splitting the lines up into two seperate groups, guys and girls etc, they then pad you down etc. If your going with a girl stick the lens etc in her handbag, if you get asked make up some bullshit story about how you just bought it while shopping in London. As for the camera i always empty out my wallet completly, put the camera in the bit that all my cash usually goes in, wrap some notes around it and have the wallet in my hand while they search me, ive been to about 10 or so concerts since ive been doing this and it has worked every time, including the hammerstein shows. Wembely is too big once ur in there for security to complain, assuming of course your in the standing area, seating they will probably come up and get you!

It's up to you, not many people have complained about security + cameras since Hammerstein. I don't know how they do it at Wembley, but at Hammersmith, they just told me I wasn't allowed to take photos. Of course, they didn't see me taking photos after they warned me, otherwise I'm pretty sure they would've confiscated my camera.

cant really remember - havent taken in a camera to wembley before - but my friend did for Depeche mode and had no probs.  The standing area is too big for them to control what happens once the bands are on.  I had to smuggle my water bottle in there as well, apparently they are a health and safety hazard.  but i figured, so am I without water!

be prepared to put it somewhere inconspicuous and once at your seat, you should be ok.   ok

Went to see WWE at Wembley and camera were fine, but then again you are encouraged to take photos.  So its pretty pointless telling you.  However on the back of my GNR ticket for Sunday it doesnt say anything about no cameras allowed.  Normally it would do.

Can't you leave your camera at home and maybe just buy a tour program?

Huh?  There were tour programs?  Or are we dreaming of 1992 again?  I didn't see any at Newcastle.

The security at Newcastle didn't give a shit about cameras, incidentally.  However, I was on front row and didn't want to risk a St Louis so I didn't take any!  Don't know what it'll be like at Wembley.

I don't know about Wembley, but the security at Hammerstein kicked my friends ass when they found him with a camera (they actually had a spy out in the audience), not to mention, took the memory card, and fuckin' BENT my camera (it was fucked up).

Jeez - thats too harsh. They did hand out a disclaimer at Hammersmith saying that photos and camera phones were stirictly forbidden and any images remain the property of GnR.  Though I was right at the front and there were loads of people taking very close pics of Axl whenever he came over our side - I was fearful that he would freak out - but he didnt bat an eyelid.  First couple I took though, I put my camera in the air and ducked down a bit though  Wink

I did see people getting cameras taken away and security trying to throw some guy out for taking a pic - the guy just shook his head, didnt budge an inch - superb.
