Ha those brought back some memories!  I enjoyed the Snakepit albums......I mean they weren't the greatest thing ever, but they were pretty cool to listen to.  I thought the second incarnation was really gonna make it......Been There Lately was getting some really great airplay.  Sad to see those songs shelved for what appears to be a long time.

Does anyone know where to find the video for "Beggers and hangers on"? I saw it once one MTV, back in the day. That's a damn good song. Love the slide guitar on that one.

I saw the second Snakepit twice both in Dallas......once in an Arena opening for AC/DC and the second in a blues club in Deep Ellum.........the second show was really really great and personal.  Rod Jackson was alright, but in small doses.......the band was really tight though.  Been There Lately and Life's Sweet Drug were both really cool live.

I really like Beggers and Hangers On  beer
I prefered the lead singer (Eric Dover) on the Slash's Snake Pit 1 line up (opposed to the 2nd line up)

Here's the song is perfered by line up no.2:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BNF07daZtU&search=Slash%27s%20Snakepit

It would have been a great band to have Eric Dover (Lead singer) + Slash + Sorum/Adler + Duff + Gilby.
This line up would have been better than the new GnR  Grin

why does it seem that most new gnr fans don't like snakepit, or even say that was a cool solo or something..  Even though I'm more towards the gnr that ruled the world I can say that's a cool song or solo or something..

Just seems strange that so many guys from the original gnr get overlooked post gnr

I'm sure a lot of the new GNR fans from the past couple years were very very young when Snakepit came out and didn't experience it the first time around.  They're both really straightforward basic rock albums too and I'm sure that goes over the head of a lot of them.  As for not getting new fans.....the material has basically been buried.  As with Izzy's solo albums......they just rock....you have no 10 minute epic pieces (which I love from GNR don't get me wrong), you have no orchestra or picalo solos....you just have good old fashioned heartland rock.  I love the Juju Hounds album now more than ever.  I just listened to Shuffle It All one day and it hit me in a whole new way.

Thanks for all the thanks...ha.  This shit rocks.. Like Mike, I feel this demonstrates Slash's versatility and the fact he can play cool stuff with just about anybody... Something many players can't say, for example Eddie Van Halen...  The only thing outside of VH that he did good was Beat it with MJ.  Slash is a genuine badass.  Also many say he can't write without Izzy or Axl.. Again, this proves otherwise, some of these songs are fantastic..

I absolutely agree. Some people here tend to say that Slash is making 'Brownstone-type of songs' only. These guys haven't heard a Slash song or plain deaf. I don't want to compare Slash's versatility to anyone's, but if somenone listens Neither Can I, Beggars, Good to Be Alive, Jizz da Pit, Lower, Be the Ball, Back and Forth, Shine, Serial Killer, Life's Sweetest Drug, Ain't Life Grand etc. must realize that these are all very different songs, with various influences. Give the guy a listen.  rant

BTW his guest appearances are great, too.

The beauty of Slash is that you can throw him in any genre on any stage and he will probably own the place.. Period.  He is not stuck in one type of music...

I think he is a great song writer personally!!
