Exactly. The audio part of a divx is made of mp3. So it's exactly the same thing as if you were uploading mp3s.

Ok guys.. basically I am putting the video through a program. Making each video the lentgh of each song and using the "clean extra noise" button to make it clearer. I convert to wav and then to FLAC. Trust me.. You cant even go straight to mp3 so, Im going to have to go from the FLACs to the MP3s when i make the mp3 of this bootleg... and trust me it loses quality. So, if you care about quality, take the flacs
Also, update... Disc 1 is uploaded. On with disc 2 tonight...

All depends on the bitrate you choose for the mp3. In the end, the FLAC will be nowhere near a WAV, because
it's an mp3 to start with
. It's just impossible, you can be sure of that. So in short, if you extracted it as an mp3 with excellent bitrate, say 320 Kbits, or even 192 Kbits, it would sound exactly like your FLAC.
Sorry if I come across like an ass, but it's a technical matter I care a lot about.

It would be worse quality because its already compressed in the DIVX so you dont want to compress it again into mp3. Itll sound awful - it does in similar cases like when DVD sound is ripped to mp3.
You did the right thing. A DIVX audio extraction tool would be the best thing to use though because that wouldnt recompress the sound.

I can confirm it. the quality was already lost during DivX compression

FLAC is nothing like an mp3, the compression is lossless (pretty much like when you compress using ZIP, except that FLAC is optimized for audio while ZIP isn't). For that reason you don't lose quality when you convert from WAV to FLAC.

Pandora just said that when you from original recording of the video to DIVX, the quality on the divx goes to mp3... which i knew that..
But what I didnt make clear was that I had to clean the audio and then convert to wave and then to FLAC. I couldn't go straight to mp3 anyway. So the lossless of this show is the FLAC and going to mp3 will lose quality as you will all see, if you decide to download the mp3's of this show I'll post tonight.
Also, working on disc 2 as soon as i get home.
Hope that cleared it up for everyone. enjoy this.

Well I know what FLAC is, thank you. I am not talking about FLAC, I'm saying that the audio part of a divx is lossy by nature (usually mp3). That is a
fact.
So converting it to WAV or FLAC or any other format won't make it any better.

I think I still haven't made myself clear
Converting it to FLAC won't make it better, it just doesn't work like that. Whatever the program you use, you could have converted your WAV into an mp3 (a good quality one), and the result would have been the same because the source is already lossy. Try converting your WAV into a 320 kbits mp3, and you will hear absolutely no difference. Bitrate is the key word here.
Bitrate, I insist, not format.
I hope it's clear now. If not, I give up
