So to anyone at the show - What happened when the Civil War chant happened, how did Axl joke about it?

Ok thanks, shame they didn't play it though.

And as for the "if only you knew who the fuck i think i am.." according to someone else he didn't say that.

He said this: "when Axl was introducing the band he said "i still dont know who the fuck i am"

To me that just sounds like he was joking about during the band intros.

The gig was unbelievable. The best concert i have ever been to, complete in every way.
However, the crowd was too loud to hear Axl's voice most of the time and people didnt even know some songs like My Michelle and Nightrain. I saw a lot of different types of people who clearly were there for no reason. Some expected Slash to be onstage.
BUT
The crowd, " real" fans were unbeliavable. 2 generations of fans there dancing along to these same songs after all these years. I think there is no other rock band that unites people like this, with such feeling. No Stones, no nothing.
I am proud and glad to be defending this new lineup. I would not if i didnt like them.
My only comment is that Robin's solos are not..needed or dont make sense. He is amazing but his solos are a bit..weird.
Axl blew my mind. I have never seen a frontman leave the stage last of all. He stood there with noone else in the back, holding and trying to read the GNR greek banner, trying to unfold it, while everyone else was leaving. He tried, tried and then realised he couldnt so he placed it under his arm and took it backstage. He was the last to leave the stage twice. Dont know if this is done frequently but totally impressed me .
PLUS when he was thrown the greek flag, he didnt just wear it like other musicians would do, he tried to find which way was correct, turned it around to find the right side of the flag cross, then wore it on his back. This shows respect in everyway.
I wish more than 10 people knew the new songs but it's a start. I was the only one singing at The Blues, with people staring at me asking if it's a cover song. ?Lips Sealed
Babe, what a gig.
This new prog-rock-instrumental feeling fits the band perfect. Im one of those people who never liked the pure rebel sex drugs n rock n roll. this will turn into an amazing record.

Well, I don't think I'll experience another night like this in Greece... Unless they come back...  Grin

Axl mentioned my "GREECE LOVES GN'R" signs I've had at gigs over the years which almost made me cry, he said he appreciates it... I mean WOW...

When the crowd chanted for Civil War Axl said "I think it's something about CPR" or something like that.

Lots of jokes, I screamed "DO THE ASSHOLE SONG" and he said "We got a second request for this song" and he played it...

I was in the first row and I was singing all the new songs by heart and since the promoter kept the PIT for the VIP's ( rant) which was stupid if you ask me, I was the only one who knew the songs (and blueheart) so Axl noticed me and he laughed...

The band is amazing and they're getting better with every gig. I'm sure that London will be crazy.

Glad I met anythinggoes, hopefully we'll meet tonight...

I can't say anything more at the moment, I'm dead tired, LOTS of GREAT pictures soon at Gunsnroses.gr...

To the people that are slating guns n roses recently you really need to see these shows to see what a great band this is they are amazing together everything works everyone is happy the whole crowd goes away with a smile the only disappointing thing with any guns n roses is when lights go down and the band is finished because everyone wants more shit i could sit through a 4 hour show and not be one bit bored looking forward to the next 4 shows hopefully they will be as good if not better than last night

GNR were on stage for 2 hours and 15 minutes. They played the usual songs welcome to the jungle, it s so easy, mr brownstone, live and let die, robin guitar intro for sweet child o mine, sweet child o mine, knockin on heavens door,
Dizzy Piano Solo, The Blues, You Could Be Mine, Axl singing Light My Fire (almost the whole song - not so short as I feel good from RIR), Richard Guitar Solo, Richard And Robin Guitar Duet (You are beautiful), Out Ta Get Me, The Asshole Song on piano, Pink Panther Theme on piano, November Rain, Better, Bumblefoot Guitar Solo (Don't Cry), Madagascar, My Michelle, Patience (with Izzy Stradlin), Nightrain (with Izzy Stradlin), Robin Guitar Solo, Paradise City (with Izzy Stradlin)

highlights:
1. Axl mentioned that in every place they go to play they always see a sign Greece Loves GNR (Christos AG sign strikes back)
2. Christos AG screaming do the Asshole song - Axl replies it's the second time this week that someone asks me to do that song and then he plays The Asshole Song on piano
3. ?Axl mentions how great night it is and that the full moon was amazing so the whole crowd looks up to the sky at this moment and watching the Full Moon
4. The crowd is chanting for Civil War. Axl jokes about it, like he's misunderstanding what they're chanting for and says that we have to do something about CPR
5. At the end of Paradise City someone throws the Greek Flag on the stage and Axl wears it and walks through the stage

god it looks as it was an amazing show! How cool! Great u all enjoyed it. Btw why did the crowd start singing Civil War? Was it spontaneous, it was like someone started singing and then all the crowd did the same thing? lol it?s kinda weird but awesome too. God It would be so great for them to play Civil War, one of my fave songs... bah.

well... if you go back to 93, the group had big argument while they were in Greece for a concert and Dizzy said something like "When we wrote civil war we didn't have Athens in mind...

that statement had been enough to make this track the best/most popular GNR single for the greek music market back then

Sounds like one of the best shows of the tour so far - I'll never forget 5/15 at the Hammerstein - almost everyone was singing the new songs - truly an amazing sight to behold!

Thanx for the link, I was looking for your review!? Wink

I was standing front row (behind the VIP area) close to anythingoes for about 3,5 hours, until WTTJ intro, when I literally got smashed by the crowd behind me. So I asked the security guy to pull me over pretending to have a breathing problem. I sneaked into the VIP area and joined blueheart and Christos.
(@ Christos: Hey, I was singing along to the new songs, too!? Tongue)

Actually the "VIPs" were mostly fully unaware of the new songs, so they were looking at us kinda funny when we were singing along and jumping (especially during Better).? Most of them should just stay home and do some homework, instead of having a friend finding them a VIP pass, they didn't deserve to be there. Whatever...

One thing that made me (and Axl) laugh was when Richard played a riff from "Jingle Bells"? Grin

Anythingoes, it was great meeting you!
I really admire you for surviving where you were standing (the crowd was crazy!) AND sending updates! Good Job!? Cheesy
