Don't Cry Original VS. Alternate Version

IMO, the Original lyrics are much better but alt. is OK.

i like the alternative better.. think that the text is much cooler on that one..

haha it happens to me but the other way round

whenever I hear the alternate version I just expect it to go like the original which I like better, cuz the lyrics flow more naturally in the original, the alternate sounds kind of forced sometimes.. but what I do like of the alternate is one part where Axl's voice fits so amazingly with the melody, the part where it says "and when you are in need of someone my heart won't deny you, so many seem so lonely with no one left to cry to baby"

that part just gives me chills everytime I hear it.. it goes so well with the music!!!

I love the music to the song but both sets of lyrics suck.... They seemed alright back in the day, but now they  just come accross as a cheesy love ballad.... And the end is annoying hell.

Recently, I've been listening a lot to the alternative version, but the original will always be my favorite. I think the lyrics are better in that one.

i read that in an interview too i think,he said something about that he thought that it needed to be "freshed up" and that the new lyrics was deeper or something (this might be wrong,i'm really tired right now)

Prefer the alt. version. I think the original version has some real corny stuff in it which the alt. version fixes up. Its a less polished song, but its more interesting to listen to.

However, the mix is sloppy in a way. Like before the choruses, there is usually a lead in from the original which doesnt fit.

sinde the UYI albums were out, i liked the originla version better. it's only since a few months (after all those years) that i dig the alt. version more. and yes, it's the 'and when you're in need...' part that makes the alt. version better for me.
strange, everyone likes the same part of the song the most.

My feelings exactly, I also think that paraticular line says something about Axl, it shows that soft side of him as well, I believe he has always held true to those who are and still remain close to him.

Alternate Version. axl just seems to really mean these words and its just more heartfelt. a couple moments dont seem to fit, but the lyrics are just better. if u get the lyrics on their own without the music, alternate is better.

Exactly - I think the song would have stood up very well if it had a unique melody behind it or something. Its got good lyrics, its just let down by existing so much in the shadow of the original. On UYI it just seems like a last minute graft.
