what do you guys think.. obviously a lot of people want to cut out the solos but i don't think that's going to happen since Axl needs some breaks.  What do you think they should do to make the show quicker paced, assuming most of the guitar solos remain?

theres nothing wrong with the song selection (it will change when CD is released) and the solos are fine!

just quit the porno-groove band jams (the ones that dont stand out as songs or solos) and also cut out the 2min+ gaps between songs... what the fucks that about? theres so much 'nothingness' between some songs its crazy... if they kept the pace like the first 4 and last 4 songs, it wud be spot on!

i know they cant just plough thru, but y'know, y'know Smiley

Why does he need so many breaks? I mean, I heard that sometimes he doesn't even leave the stage during a solo!

Wow, you had to wait. Poor guy.  Cry

Imagine if Axl had been on time and had given you a half assed show. Maybe you'd be happy and not whine then? I think not...

The "3 hr waits" aren't exactly common.

Faster paced? I think Axl probably would tie his tongue in a knot if he had to sing faster Tongue . Maybe I'm slow, but I don't quite get your point. I liked the solos, you just stand there and listen. It's a concert after all, right? If I wanted to headbang and jump around for three hours, I'd go to a bar. Cause if you're doing that you can't see what's going on on stage anyway. As goes for the waiting - dude I waited for over 12 hours for the show in Milan. I think I can take the extra hour they're late (which they weren't).

? rofl I Love that line. So very true. Nothing more pathetic than a 30 year old headbanging like a 15 year old. Just enjoy the solos. It's all a part of the fun. If you are having a good time then why would you want a quicker paced show that would just end early? Be glad there are solos. You are getting a longer concert!

Honestly, I would like to see *1* solo per night on guitar. Maybe just let Ron solo, since he's the new guy and does Don't Cry. I get that the solos are helping people hear the talent of the new band, but they're just tedious. Finck isn't new anymore. He's been in the band about a decade now when you think about it.

And keep Out Ta Get Me - it's a song with a lot of energy. The one song that could really go would be Think About You.

*realistic* dream setlist:

Welcome to the Junge
It's So Easy
Mr. Brownstone
Better
You Could Be Mine
Guitar Solo
Sweet Child O' Mine
Patience
Madagascar
Don't Cry
Dizzy Piano Solo
The Blues
November Rain
Out Ta Get Me
My Michelle
Rocket Queen
I.R.S.

Encore:

Chinese Democracy
Nightrain
Paradise City

Alternates:

Used To Love Her
Knockin' On Heaven's Door
Live and Let Die
Think About You

these solos need to go or Axl will get crucified by the US press - its not 91 or 92, Axl doesnt command the same clout so therefor it wont be tolerated

if he really needs to take a break, play a song that one of the other guys sings, a cover perhaps

The US press is gonna crucify them anyway so leave the solos in there just to piss em off more. You know theres no way in hell the band is gonna get a fair chance.

It's a good bet that Axl will get crucified by the US press with or without solos.  You think he gives a shit?  Plus Axl would be one to put in MORE solos if the press complained about them just to piss them off.  Keep doing what you're doing Axl.  The band is playing for the first time in 4 years, I would've settled for ALL solos 6 months ago.

i like the solos. most of the time it is cool what they play and if your new to a gnr show it gives a little added suspense to what song they are going to play next. also i like the transitions from the solo into the song. i dont get when people complain about long drawn out shows. you are at a concert. i would much rather see a band that i like play for over 2 hours and showcase their talent then go and see a band play the same songs, same order of the set, and leave the stage after a little over an hour.

Yeah, cut the jams so we can just watch roadies moving the piano. Very interesting.

But I agree that especially Robin's solo before PC is needless.. or maybe it's just too long. I think that Finlandia + Beautiful + Don't Cry with little extra stuff is cool though ok And I don't know how Dizzy's piano solo "normally" sounds, but the Hanoi version really got the crowds attention and nobody complained like "aaawwhwhh I hate these solos!".. They just have to play something people would like to hear hihi

you're all complaining about the solos. maybe they're too much if you're standing there and do nothing. but if you're jumping around and sing with them they're a good time to catch your breath. and it's not that bad. i like to see them doing the solos.

and people that complain about the same setlist over and over: have you been to more then 1or 2 shows? if not you should shut up. you complain that you read the titels of the songs on a message board? hihi

so just let the tour go on and stop bitching

well thats one way to look at it - Id prefer if he did everything in his power to turn around the critics
eg. release a killer album and tour with tight, well performed shows

best way to shut them up surely?

I, for one, enjoy the solos...

However, this is not something new. GN'R have always dealt with Axl leaving the stage for whatever reason with improvised stuff. Blues jams, solos, nothingness, etc. were a pretty common thing during a GN'R concert in the old days, I don't see why it's such a big deal now. And as far as waiting for GN'R to go onstage, well, that's not new either. And I just don't believe that a GN'R fan doesn't know what they're in for when buying a ticket.

You wanna know how to fix it at certain shows? Let Izzy do a solo.

The shows he turns up at let him do a solo, he could play Jack and Jill went up the hill and he would still probably get more applause then the other 3 because the crowd know Izzy.
