That would be Aava....  hihi

Well, she likes Melrose, so... nervous

 Cheesy

edit:
blues is usually played before ycbm

If the rest of the setlist that was posted earlier is correct, it would mean that The Blues came right after Madagascar, and I'm pretty sure that wasn't the case. Anyway, since I didn't write the songs down as they came, I'm not much help here...

I'm not sure at what point The Blues was played, but it was somewhere pretty much in the middle of the setlist. As for Chinese Democracy, it was definitely _not_ played. Perhaps the person who posted it confused the song with The Blues?

I was thinking the same thing, replace Chinese with The Blues and the setlist should be correct I think?

Also one great thing happend, after the show I met my old boss at the train station, hadn't seen him for couple of years... Sounds weird I know but he made me a fan peace

hello...

what can I say... AMAZING show!! just fucking amazing.

and Axl seemed to think the same about the crowd... during long version of Knockin he said you're an amazing crowd... and he said something like "you're too kind" after some song that got a good applause.? On the other side he said he heard few "Fuck off" shouts from the crowd, but he replied that "many of you are enjoying this concert so, You fuck off, you don't have to be here"

other pointers:

- Great energy with the band, everyone seemed to give their 100%
- Brain had a baby 4th of July, so no brain playing
- No Izzy, no Baz or anything
- The band seemed very very happy, specially Axl
- They started at 22:50 local time and ended at 01:10, so it was nice 2hr 20 min set
- pyro and fireworks on some songs + confetti on Paradise

Setlist:

intro

It's So Easy

Live And Let Die
Robin Guitar Solo (finlandia)

Think About You
Richard Fortus Guitar Solo
Out Ta Get Me
November Rain
Bumblefoot Guitar Solo (Don't Cry)
My Michelle

... okay, I feel like something is missing between better and nightrain, but I'm not sure
... few jam sessions between the songs

the jamming with the speach on top was hilarious!!! saying something like he don't care if the swede likes him or not or what taste the swedes have, he just wanted to taste a swede... or something... you get the point... great show... shorter solos and a few songs less than in oslo...

Awesome show! Axl's voice was perfect! New songs were received very well by the crowd, especially Better. Finck played Finlandia and Dizzy played Dont Ever Leave Me by Hanoi Rocks. Axl joked about the swedish incident and was in great mood. I actually liked the guitar solos they played and they gave me a chance to catch my breath because I was jumping up and down and singing along during most of the songs. What a great show! I could not be happier right now and I get to see them again tomorrow! Smiley

I think dizzy fucked up at the beginning of Madagascar and Axl said "what the fuck was that", or it was a coincidence and he said it about something else.

And.. I didn't see it too well, but I think someone threw a bra on stage and axl held it up for a while  Grin

dizzy is cool as fuck, he played very beautifully his solo. He and his solo were recieved very well.

fortus was awesome! he has that great way to play rythm guitar when it looks like he's just slamming the guitar with his hand. looks great  Cool and sounds great.

Robin fucked up few times, but it's rock n' roll so it's all good

This band really is BIG, 8 fucking dudes, it's a very full sound... you really realise it live.

the opening band "Melrose" sucked big time, awful.

Axl introduced finlandia as "here's someting finnish for you"

my legs are dead and voice gone... Axl's voice was perfect for the whole show.

I'm fed up with everyone bitching about the setlist.. Axl is playing for the audience in attendance... Not computer geeks!!! I'm sure those people were thrilled w/ the setlist because those are the songs THEY wanted to hear... FUCK ?rant

You mean to tell me that somewhere within that 2 to 2.5 hour set, Axl and the band can't play one of these 26 songs that are nearly done?  These songs from Appetite... they've been playing them for 20 years!  I'm not the biggest Axl Solo Project fan, but I'd like to hear some more of the shit before I make up my mind for certain.  Even back in the day, GnR were playing songs from the Illusion albums well ahead before the release in 1991.  If I were expecting CD to come out this fall, I'd be a bit worried...

Man, it was abosultely amazing. Where was all the breaks and jams and waiting they're supposed to have in there? Fuck, it was almost an hour before anything like that happened (Robin's Finlandia piece was short and you can't call that a break in Finland), and I sure wanted a little break by then. Then the solo spots came, and to my surprise I enjoyed them. Dizzy's Don't You Ever Leave Me (Hanoi Rocks) was fabulous. I was thinking what he might bring to Finland after hearing his solos is Sweden and in Norway, but for some reason I never thought it could be Hanoi. The crowd picked up on the song and sang along. Ron's Don't Cry was good, too.

The setlist was good, too. I did kind of missed Chinese Democracy but I can do without IRS. Better was the best live version I have heard so far. There seems to always have been some sloppiness in that live, but now it was tight as a virgin ass. I was hoping for Madagascar but then it came so soon it sort of went by. Also the encore was only one song which was a small disappointment. Although it was so hot and there was no oxygen on the floor anymore, so it was good to get out, too.

The opening band started 21:00 (9PM) although I think they were supposed to start at 8 - probably the promoters thought it's better to open later since GNR starts late. They played 35 minutes, and when GNR took the stage about 22:47 it was a little over hour to wait. Didn't bother me and neither most of the others. One guy behind me complained and tried to BOOO for the last 20 minutes, but when they started, he was one of the most enthustiatics in the crowd. I'm sure someone wanted to see the first half of France-Portugal, there's no way that starting time was a co-incidence!

Axl was great, his sound was so good it was almost hard to comprehend. And the voice came so easily from him. My girlfriend's friend was with us, and she isn't a fan or anything, and she had this delighted wonder on her face so often when Axl went on with some high screams or stuff like that. I didn't notice that much oxygen breaks, but he did chew gum - maybe it's new oxygen gum to help him catch his breathe!

But Axl wasn't very talkative, only a couple of talks with the crowd. "So there I was...", he started and told the Sweden story. "There was six cops with leather gloves on holding me down, and Dr. Hack-a-lot tried to push me with a needle and he kept missing. There was blood everywhere, and I thought he was a fucking idiot. Then I told him, 'You're a fucking idiot.' And while I laid there, being hold down by these six cops, I noticed a girl holding the door open. She was hot, so I kind of just laid there and watched her..." And then he ended with, "I wasn't looking for Swedes with good taste, I was looking for Swedes that taste good!"

It was sort of surprising that that was followed by Think About You and not Out Ta Get Me. Later on OTGM he had the "so you can bite me!" there, too.

Another time Axl heard some fuck-yous from the crowd (I didn't hear any), and he said "Why don't you go home. I didn't invite you here, you don't have to stay. But there are a lot of others that want to stay, so I guess that's fuck you too."

I don't have any complaints about anything except that it was so fuckin' hot on the floor.

After an annoying work-related pause:

Axl threw his earpiece (during Nightrain?) and it hit the guy standing in front of me. He didn't even notice but I didn't see where the thing went. Paradise City whistle also flew straight towards me but the throw was maybe two meters too short. The microphone went way to the left.

Before the gig I was on the train to the arena, and some woman beside me talked on the phone to her friend, offering a ticket to the show. I heard her say, "the opening band starts at 8 and GNR at 9". I rudely corrected that it won't be 9, probably more like 11. Few moments later the woman, still on the phone, asked me "what kind of music they play, how would you categorize it?" I was flabbergasted, could only laugh something like "it's rock". She also asked me what were the band's hits or songs she and her friend might know... And then she said she had gotten tickets through this Events' Club presale. The real fans don't get tickets and this sort of people get the best seats. I'm convinced that group of people didn't stay until the end.

On the way back, the last and only train came about 1:30. There were probably thousands of people waiting for it. The train came, and more than? half of its coaches were empty and locked. We packed as many people as we could on the few open coaches, but lots of people didn't fit in. And then the train left with empty coaches. Way to go, VR or HKL or whatever handles those commuter trains.

It was a great night, finally hear them live. I was with my two friend, that wanted to see the band. They have listening GNR just about year or so. When jungle started, one of my friend ( a woman ) was crying, she was so stunned about the show. Axl voice was amazing, and the band sounded great.

I was sitting near to this chick who got a backstage pass from DEL JAMES(?) before GN'R hit the stage. He said something "after the gig you can go blaa blaa somewhere" and then he gave her some sort of VIP pass. I would've taken it too? hihi
He also walked several times around the floor looking for someone (girls for Axl probably?) thought that was funny...
Good gig overall. imo Richard was the guy last night. Also nice to hear Dizzy play "Don't You Ever Leave Me" before "The Blues".

Chinese Democracy out 2014!

« Reply #116 on: July 06, 2006, 04:42:25 AM »

Ok so the first thing I heard when I came to the gates was someone saying "Axl's plane isn't in Finland yet so they are atleast an hour late" rofl And they were, but when WTTJ:s intro started.. nobody fucking cared about being late. I was sitting/standing right next to the stage and around me there was these fuckers who just clap their hands between the songs but nothing else. Boring place to be! But I rocked and my voice isn't that good anymore hihi Bumble came couple of times to the side of the stage and pointed the area where I was and tried to get the people singing and stuff like that.. well I was the only one but he showed me(?) his thumb Grin

The band was great, seemed to be in a very good mood and it was very energetic performance. Someone yelled "FUCK YOU!" and Axl goes like "Hey you don't have to be here.. you can just leave if you want, so FUCK YOU too!". Better was great, better than I thought. But during Maddy and The Blues people just went to get some hot dogs and stuff.. blaeh. I just hoped that they would play I.R.S before Nightrain or PC but they didn't Undecided During Nightrain Finck walked down to the floor and people from the front row were just touching and huggin him. And it was good to see that they really are an audience-friendly band. It's a shame that Izzy wasn't there..

The solos were amazing! I don't think that they were too long or anything, they were great! Dizzy's Hanoi-solo was something that I want to hear again, so I hope that someone really recorder this show ok

On the way home, there were hundreds of people waiting for the train towards Riihim?ki, and when it arrived I didn't know should I cry or laugh.. It was the shortest possible train VR could use. It took like 10-15min to get going 'cause someone was stucked between the doors.. alot of people didn't get in so they had to wait 3 hours for the next train hihi

There was alot of cameras, so I think that we are going to get some pics soon..

I'm not going to the show tonight, so if anyone is interested about a ticket to the club seats, please let me know!

I was in the train to Riihim?ki, and it was quite a " nighttrain" ! It was totally full of people, you could not move there, until people started to leae the train. Nearly a fight started around one door, becouse people wanted to come in the train, but there was no room. It was very stupid thing from VR or HKL
