What Guns n roses are missing musically without izzy

Iv listened to a few bootlegs from the 2006 tour and I can say flipping awesome. Never heard axl so good, really starting to appreciate dizzy and all the band clicks and just have huge energy and stage presence. Love it cant wait for Birmingham.
However i watched paradise city at donnington (kerrang radio did a great job of finding the pricks that didnt like gnr that night the crowd was loving it).
Anyway it was the first time i had seen izzy play! I couldnt hear him, but in the old guns he played great rythm guitar. With 3 guitarists already they are pretty much the same players, two fast and great players and finck who is a very emotional player. Chris Pittman especially at RIR06 made me cringe with his synth, in songs like KOHD and LALD etc, instead of rythm guitar we just had droneing blahhh merghhhh etc.
as great as I think Bumblefoot is, i dont think he is necessary with fortus and izzy would fill a hole, i doubt axl would sack pitman, but please turn down the synth.
Rant over

Izzy has his own solo career going, he isn't going to rejoin the band at least not according to him a few years ago that he won't rejoin with out Slash and Duff. But like I don't think he would join GnR because he has his own solo thing going on and enjoys doing things his own way.

So in essence you're saying that either Izzy, (Robin) or Richard could recreate Buckethead's insane chops??
I'll let you go back to sleep then.....

I presume by chops you mean playing fast not the robot dance chops. Good point but your avatar name is slipdisc so i presume you are a big bucket fan. The only "chop" I know of in GNR is the better solo which isnt actually played live

No, I don't just mean playing fast. I expect Buckethead to have brought his usual crazyness to the album: the octave displacements, tri-toning, genious interval selections, eight-finger tapping, sweep sequences etc etc etc. If such is the case nobody in GNR (except for Ron) could recreate that authentically. I wouldn't know my avatars name, but I am a Buckethead-fan yes. So what? I'm a huge fan of Ron too, it's with a reason, hence my total support for him replacing Buck. They are both incredible guitarists.

who cares what buckethead brings. you havenet heard what he brings except for the leaked tracks. and they play them fine with out supid buckethead. he sucks. \"the octave displacements, tri-toning, genious interval selections, eight-finger tapping, sweep sequences etc etc etc. \" are not needed. you dont need three guitrarist to play slash\'s songs. stop trying to look so smart with your \"the octave displacements, tri-toning, genious interval selections, eight-finger tapping, sweep sequences etc etc etc. \" comment. and chris pittman is not needed either. his keyboards sound like shit on the old songs too.

stop trying to look so smart with your
I would ask you to stop trying to look so stupid, but it seems like you have no choice...
I'm sorry that me merely summing up some unique (commonly known) elements in Buckethead's playing makes you feel this challenged. Challenged to the extend that you feel a need to talk some trivial BS about people.
Buckethead being the guitar pioneer he always has been, was brought in too inject that element of his playing into GNR. If such wasn't the case GNR wouldn't have had that much trouble finding a replacement. And they certainly wouldn't have added the one guy who has been constantly mentioned in the same context as Buck, over the past decade and a half, to the bunch. Getting sense out of you is like squeezing orange juice out of an apple, take your provocations to the deadhorse-section.

Listening to a bootleg can be nice. But just wait until you're actually watching AND hearing this band play in front of you. That's when you'll understand why people here are excited about the shows. You can't feel the energy of the crowd on a DVD or CD. You have to be there yourself.
I was watching the two songs from the Download Festival a while back and it brought back memories of actually standing there at Donington Park when the sun was setting and seeing this amazing band play.
See you in Birmingham.

Why the hell not? Slash and Duff weren't original members, why should he care if they're in the band or not? Did he become friends with them? And if so how come you never hear that they're hanging out, because they're best friends?

want to know why Izzy missing is such a huge loss? It has nothing to do with his playing.
1. Fact is since Izzy left the band there has not been a new album in 15 years. Obviously Izzy + Axl= one of the greatest song writing teams of all time. Look at the songs they created, since 1986 there have been maybe 6? new songs written by GNR, most of the UYI's were already written before Appetite, and I happen to believe the best Dont Cry performance was at the Roxy (except for maybe the couple shows they played with Hoon, but thats just sentimental.) The new songs sound great, but they do not have that gritty rhythm or soul that I feel Izzy brought. Listen to a Ju Ju Hounds song and you can hear that soul that is missing from the new GNR tracks. I was listening to "Shuffle it All" today and I dont know how to describe it, but I just wished that somehow that song was combined with one of the new tracks.
2. Besides being and inspirational influence, I also think Izzy kept Axl somewhat in check. With Izzy gone I dont think there has been anyone who can get to Axl and talk reason into him. Tommy seems to maybe have taken the reigns, but who really knows.

every time I see someone call Finck an "emotional player" I read it as if he said "finck suck".
stop calling him emotional, and give him credit for playing the hell out of these songs.
he rocks, not because "he's emotional" but because he rocks!!!!

THis is a sterotipical post but I have to add it.
Finck playing with emotion is BS I could play with emotion doesnt mean I am a super guitarist I could play exactly how Finck does exaggerating each note etc. THe fact is his chops arent as fluent or as silky with the changes slash implemeted if he is to add his own twist.
And without Izzy...easy they lost the other 3rd of the writing and cohesive partnership that was Axl Slash and Izzy. This = GNR and without the 2 you get what you have now, a strong band but nothing produced (as of yet) that matches the likes of the old songs IMO

Yeah I love Finck and I've been into him ever since seeing him on the NIN Fragile Tour Video (check it out its good. Excecpt I think its only out on VHS). But the thing I love about him is the emotion he puts into playing. Not just anyone can do that. That's why Axl is into him. Anyone can rock out but it takes a special someone to move you.
