Can you imagine how cool would that be if Mark Slaughter would join the band for a song or two! even better with Sebastian Bach too. I think the crowds would go crazy to see those 3 singer together on the stage at one time! i know im just dreaming but anyone know if axl is friends with mark slaughter?

Not to sound rude or anything, but I started this thread mainly to see if anyone else noticed a similarity between "Don't Cry" and the Slaughter song. Almost 20 posts later, and not a single "yeah, I hear it" or "sorry...you're crazy." I never said that Slaughter stole from GnR or vice-versa, I was just curious if anyone agreed with me or not.
I don't mind reading about Mark Slaughter singing w/ Axl or the origins of "Don't Cry" and when/where/how it was written, but at some point, if anyone hears the songs, chime in, okay?

Well, I'm moving this weekend but when we get settled I'm still going to track the song down and take a listen. Hopefully I'llbe able to give you some sort of feedback then.

Sorry dude I don't hear the similarities at all. THinking of june has almost a classical type feel to it, whereas don't cry is completely a power ballad rock tune.
THere is no hommage to gnr in the song. I highly doubt Tim Kelly (rest his soul) had any thoughts of paying tribute to gnr in a song he wrote in memory of his dead sister.
Anyway. That don't cry clip from 86 was fucking magical. God axl's voice was amazing back then.

Baz, just had a listen and I'm sorry to say I don't hear the similarities either. If anything Thinking of June reminds me of Randy Rhoads' 'Dee'.

Thanks...I feel a bit better now - definitely in the first 30 seconds only, what sounds like similar notes and a progression that's not all that different. Very fleeting, but still not that far off (again, to me at least).
