Excuse me for making a new topic, but I have a question about the new drummer.
Is he any good?
How difficult is it to play drums?  Can it be that the next shows will not be that good or will we barely notice any change? I'm a bit worried that the shows will not be that good, like shorter setlist and maybe the same songs on each show?

Yeah, I'm sure after having such a successful tour so far, GN'R would hire a shoddy drummer for a couple of shows to slow down the pace.

That makes sense.

If you're speaking about Brain Mantia, he's one of the best things that could have possibly happened to Axl Rose. Yes, he's a fantastic drummer.  Grin

I was thinking of Frank Ferrer   ok

Well can we expect that we get almost just as good show that we would do with Brain?

I'm sure the replacement drummer sucks. A band like GnR wouldn't possibly have access to any kind of talented musicians.  Tongue

(I wonder what's going to happen around here if he turns out to be a better drummer for GnR than Brian).

I'm sure Axl only has the best on hand here.  He wouldn't risk having a crap drummer.  That would be stupid.  Axl knows how important it is for this Euro tour to be great.  He'll handle it   ok

They guy probably knows the songs better then Brain. What can he possibly be doing while they're on tour but practice. It's not Like Brains wife just found out shes having a baby. I think they knew this was gonna happen while they were in europe. Too bad Robins not being replaced. That guys blows.

The guy has been an understudy. The band must have seen this coming and had him ready to go. Surely he is good.

PLaying the drums is easy peasy. Especially on music written by 10 year olds like the old GNR stuff was. Seriously, although it was great music and we all love it, its hardly complicated.

The Coheed and Cambria drum tech replaced their drummer at the last minute for their Download set at Donnington and they sounded exactly the same.

God I hope so.  I think I read in the press release its for 10 shows right?  Not to be a selfish cow, but I hope he's back for Birmingham.  I think he's a fantastic drummer but being there for your baby being born is more important.  Nice to know he has his priorities right.

He's probably been at Soundchecks and learn't the basics, the band and he have probably prepared for this happening.

I'm not sure what tracks he appears on, but he was in the Compulsions, an awesome NYC band

http://www.myspace.com/thecompulsions

and he was also in Pisser: http://www.pisserband.com/

and he comes Richard Fortus approved, so no worries!
