At the risk of getting banned for life by heavy-handed moderating, I think there is a legitimate question as to why the "understudy" drummer was not ready to step in?? It may well be simply that Brain's wife developed unexpected complications earlier than anyone anticipated -- and OF COURSE one's family life always should take precedent over a gig.?

Its easy. They wanted to give him a day or two to PLAY a rehearsal with the band and not just go in cold with out ever playing with the band.  If these shows were not back to back,  I am sure they would not have push the show back  a week. Its only a week, who cares.

He must have it easy...

He is from love spit love with Fortus

Ok never heard of it.... Thanks though

they did a bad cover of "The Smiths" tune - "How Soon Is Now..." for that crappy movie "The Craft" hihi that's all I've heard of them...aside from Fortus formerly being in the band

maybe if they had a day or two practice with him but there is no break from last night so they rescheduled...thats what it looks like to me anyway

edit: damn dave beat me Tongue

Anybody whining will see their post disappear.

Brain's wife is pregnant. You really need to get a clue if you think that's not a reason to postpone a show.

/jarmo

Come on jarmo ...don't be like that ....
there' s a good reason to whine ... they have an extra drummer and they don't use him....
i would like to see u if u had bought tickets for zurich , took a day off work ... for what ?? a no show ..

ok , brain'wife is pregnant but he's doin' an european tour ... .WITH GUNS N' ROSES .. MAYBE YOU CAN WAIT AND SEE YOUR SON WHEN YOU'RE DONE WITH THE TOUR ..... OK?

That is stupid but I agree about the stand in drummer, why not use him if he's there?

Im surprised that they havnt been using both drummers for the tour. 2 keybs player, 3 guitarists, 2 drummers - why not.

I did some research on Frank Ferrer.

In addition to joining Love Spit Love in the mid-90s, it should also be noted that Frank Ferrer played with Richard Fortus on the 2000 Psychedelic Furs tour.

Ferrer was part of the New York band "The Beautiful" in the early 90s. They had a few videos that made MTV.

Here's a quote from an interview they did back in 1990:

Quote
The drummer, Frank, is this total Led Zeppelin, John Bonham freak-that's what he's all about. He used to play in salsa bands, all sorts of stuff.

The lead singer of The Beautiful made this tribute page to the band:

I think the reason they had to postpone this show is because they didn't expect Brain to have to leave today, maybe they had a planned period of time where Brain would be abcent and Frank would replace him, but his wife required him earlier than the accorded date, so they weren't ready for tonight without him

Frank is an awesome drummer. I saw him perform with Richard in the band pisser, and he is hands down a true professional and an awesome rock drummer. We couldn't be any luckier than to have a guy of his talents step in.

Love Spit Love recorded 2 records, and I'm not sure if Frank was on both of them.

The band Pisser was a lot heavier than Love Spit Love, and if i'm not mistaken, I think Frank may also have lent some drums to the band Honky Toast, which fucking rock.

Congrats to Brain and I hope all goes well with the delivery. Maybe Brain and Richards kid will be forming Guns N' Roses 2025!

I hope Brain, his wife and his kid are fine.

I like the bit about the new guy being a Led Zep freak, and I hope he plays a blinder for all the shows that he has to step in for.

Fair enough -- I thought that he had been around a little longer in anticipation of Brain needing to branch off at some point for the birth, but that GnR MAY have been caught a bit unprepared (not a crazy assumption, given that the replacement guitarist was hired a couple of weeks before the tour . . . .)  But I agree -- a postponement is a minor inconvenience (for some people) and what can you do when life intervenes in unexpected ways?

By the way , the first two (and maybe only) Love Spit Love albums were VERY good, especially the single Am I Wrong? from the first album (the radio edit is a bastardized remix, but still ok).  The singer of LSL was the singer from the psychedelic furs.  I saw LSL, with Richard Fortus (who was tiny in person, but a great performer -- much more glam looking than in GnR), in a tiny club and they were excellent.
