It's definitely not as it was in the old days...

of course not the old band could nevr be duplicated first time is always magic... They came together with nothing and made something.. Now it's axl's show basically a multi millionaire with hired help..

I'm pretty sure I remember Slash saying that they never really hung out back in the old days either.? Apart from interviews and such they went their own ways.? I mean you know since Axl and Izzy hired Slash and such to join the band as a musician, not their buddy.? Nice try to undercut the new band though.? Some will never learn.

yeah a guy with no money hired slash, this is a little different... The final 5 was the band, love how the hired people owned their own rights hihi

How is this any different? ?Axl auditioned the musicians and liked them so he put them in the band. ?Now Axl, Izzy, Traci, Ole, Rob.......those guys came together because they were buddies from playing on the circuit. ?When Ole left and Duff replaced him a few months later, he gave Izzy a tape of Slash and Adler playing who in turn played it for Axl. ?When Tracii and Rob couldn't make the Seattle tour, Axl called Slash and Adler up to replace them in the band he co-created with Izzy and Tracii.

Axl's bandmates leave and he auditions new musicians....some bring friends...a few small changes over the years and voila.........you have another lineup. ?Money or no money...it's how bands work. ? ?As for owning rights....I think all the really have is their individual performing name. ?They don't have any legal rights to the GNR songs. ?

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

again axl had zero money and the same with izzy, they were trying to form a band with people he felt could make it... It's a big difference when you're trying to start a? band and get somewhere in the LA sene compared to you are the owner of gnr and have millions to pick and chose, there's zero urgancy there.. They were all living of biquits and gravy, this is hardly a hire , it was more of a move to make a final band

Either way, the final 5 are the guys that made it big, they are the guys that made afd.... Tracy was there for such a brief time that it's really meaningless, it wasn't what they were looking for..

I mean the one band started in 1985, the other final one was cemented in 1985.. That's hardly a successfull run or accomplishing anything, slash duff axl izzy steven signed the deal, they released afd...

It's not hard to see the difference.... Axl was nothing when he brought slash duff n steve in, they were headed no where...Today since gnr broke up and he added the new guys all the fame was there already, all the rights to close the vmas was there.... hardly a comparison

The only gnr anyone outside of fan forums know is def axl n slash then the rest

It's definitely not as it was in the old days...

During the Illusion tour the band didn't hang out or travel together at all.

Read through the history section and see for yourself:

Dude, during the Appetite, Axl produced the band as '...my family as we are always hanging around together...'  It's kinda stupid to discuss this, we all know that during the Ilussions they were not around together because they could not stand each other. However, Axl and Duff were OK among each other. Besides, I have read at least thosand times about the GN'R history and I know very well what I'm writing. beer

Wasnt just Axl. It seems to me that Duff and Slash were really the only ones on good terms with each other (then Sorum when he came along). Izzy was blaze to it all and Adler was too fucked up to do anything.

I don't know what happened but if you grew up in that time you could see they did so many photo shoots together and talked highly of eachother as axl called them family.. every magazine was the original five, by the illusion era you would have been hard pressed to find anything together

Just look at afd gnr then look at 1992 how different it was....

Yeah, yeah, no doubt. I grew at that time and I know how it was. Anyway, I still think that it's not the same as it was. Even during the Ilussions.

No doubt I didn't realise it then but now when I look back at the illusions compared to afd I se one band crazy hungry filled with emotion vs sometimes just going through the motions... 1992 was always killer to me, the band become spinal tapish by then

I dont know if Id call it going through the motions, but I do remember the first time I heard the UYI stuff and knowing something there was something off. I was very young but even then I realised it sounded like a bunch of people, all really talented, with different goals and not really working together. Of course, theyre classics and I loved them but they definately lack that cohesion that made AFD stunning. For every knock out song on those discs, theres another that reminds you how fractured the band was becoming. No wonder Axl doesnt relish those times.

But ... to bring this all back on topic; didnt Axl rarely hang out with other band members once AFD came out?

Whose twisted recollection of events is this?   hihi
