Fist in the air in the land of hipocrisy

Is this somehow different from the 2 seperate discs? I mean both of the discs are listed to have 90 minute runtime, but in the 2 dvd set it says that the runtime is 165 mins that's 15 mins less than the two seperate discs combined.

Are they any different from the VHS versions (ie worth buying if you own the VHS)?

Well, the quality is better and it's easier to skip songs etc.

Anyone else think those DVDs are horrendous?  Whyd they release a foreign show? Half the fun is hearing the crowd go crazy and sing along.

I agree somewhat..  I thought they made a GREAT audio set.  Lot's of songs, the band and Axl sounded great. The double talking Jive into Civil War is just amazing...

As for releasing it as a VHS/DVD...  Your right, the crowd sucked but I wouldn't say because it is foreign. I mean look at Brazil and Argentina, those crowds are insane at any rock show...  Axl  makes it pretty horrific to view also. His outfits were absolutely ridiculous and they looked just as queer in 92.  Blow drying his hair in between songs and changing  stupid looking outfit after stupid looking outfit. He even did it like three times during the one song of Civil War.  The queer biker shorts with the blazer, football jersey, letaher jacket??? you pick which is more ridiculous...

Anyway, one thing that intreagued me about the whole lawsuit thing was that Duff said they had all this old footage that they could release...

That would be sweet if they could have an official release of like that last show they did in Argentina 93 that I have heard so much about..  Or like a Live Era DVD, with all different performances from different shows from 87 - 93....

LOL, I agree. Im get embarassed watching concert vids from that era even when no one else is around.

His worst outfit is, handsdown the Knockin' on Heaven's Door one. From memory (I havent seen the vids in about 8 years):
Tight white briefs
Brown leather cowboy jacket
White cowboy hat
Aviator sunglasses

The vids do have redeeming qualities though. Amazing and diverse setlist.

slash was awsome in that show, but to me, the show was to them ....just another show, it didnt look like they wanted to be there as such, they were just there to do what they had to, it didnt look like any emotion was there anymore except for slash.....

them shows on dvd were the break up of the band!!!

The Tokyo 1992 VHS' were the first concert vids I ever saw. I had no clue about anything. I remember when they came back for encores I was like "whoa, they liked the crowd so much they are coming back on stage! What an awesome band!"

I used to think a concert would be really boring if the singer didnt change clothes heaps or have a massive stage to run around on  rofl

Holy Shit, watched the DVD for the first time in forever on my new LCD.

Okay, Double Talking Jive to Civil War was fucking mind blowing.  Slash was on fucking fire and all over the place.

The colors are so pure and true and clear.  The audio is much improved with much more bass.  Also looks like there are new angles in comparison to the VHS tapes.  But anyway, Slash was on big time for the most part of these DVDs.  Even the Wild Horses and KOHD.  And of course Godfather and that solo.  But Double Talking Jive with the Spanish part and SRV type part.   Its really special.  This is not my favorite show, but the camera angles and audio really make you appreciate this band.  Everyone looked like a bad ass.

yes I agree....I enjoy the dvd's because the songs sound cool and they put on a good show..but the crowd was LAME....even worse than the jersey crowd in November of 06...lol.....

seriously though, I think the Toyko shows really fail to capture Guns N Roses of the early 90's.....
