I saw Miami Vice too.? Everything about it was quality, especially the acting and the gunfights. Noone pulls off gunfire like Michael Mann! -8/10

Everyone always talks about how violent that scene was, but nothing was shown. It was all left up to the viewers imagination. Still a good movie.

I went to the cinema twice today. Isn't that always how it is?, you don't go to the cinema for like six months and then, hey!, you go twice in half a day. I saw You, Me and Dupree and Snakes on a Plane.
On the whole a general reminder as to why I don't bother with the cinema much anymore. You, Me and Dupree had a few laughs but the story was weak at best. I have no real issue with discarding the storyline, I'm a big Spaceballs fan, but the film has to make up for it by being fuck yeah funny! You, Me and Dupree didn't do that so much. As I say, there were probably three top laughs at best, everything else was just weak.
Snakes on a Plane, I don't get why you guys went so nuts about it. It was average, maybe good, but no better than that. I would have prefered a few more model shots because the CGI snakes looked fake as shit. I think that I spotted one or two model shots the whole movie.
One of the biggest problems that I had with the film, sorry, the movie, was that I didn't give a shit. Hey, as long as big Sam was surviving for the duration I didn't give two shits. What the hell was that emotional crap with his partner dying about anyway? I think that up until that point the guy, whose name I have obviously forgotten, had a couple of lines at best. I didn't see the point of roughly introducing a whole crew of 2D characters, kill a few of them off, and then let the rest of them see it through. I really didn't care if any of them died.
Having the only real bad guy with any lines in the movie as an English, sorry, British, guy was a nice touch though. And in an American film, sorry, movie and all. . .
I would give it 5/10 because it was entertaining for the most part, although it didn't really get going for much of the first part (hey, it isn't like they can use the excuse that they were building character or anything............) but instead I'm going to give it 6/10. Dya wanna know why? Do ya?, dya wanna know why?
Because Kenan fucking Rockmore saved the day!

Snakes on a Plane, I don't get why you guys went so nuts about it.
I liked it because it was so absurd. It's not a movie to be taken seriously as a comedy, horror, drama, etc..It's kind of like Big Trouble In Little China and They Live. How do you classify those movies? They're just crazy - fun.
Recently watched The Weather Man. Nicolas Cage is really great in this movie. It's an unusual and bleak story, but it has a nice resolve toward the end which makes it more enlightening.

Big Trouble In Little China is one of the greatest movies ever

Yeah, but... John Carpenter rules, so you're getting what you're paying for. Or at least, you were for most of his career.
Snakes on a Plane was like a high-low-budget movie trying to be a cult b-movie low-budget film. I did say, it is a movie worth seeing. But probably not more than once. Maybe twice.

Super Troopers
and at Jims' recommendation Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story
This was actually a very good comedy, if you dont mind having to think about the jokes. I'm sure upon future viewings I will pick up more little jokes, but I was very happy with just the first viewing. This took the whole film within a film concept to a different level. I loved the whole part where they are trying to get a big star(Gillian Anderson
) inorder to make the film marketable to the studio, but she is only in the "movie" for one scene.
Good stuff, thanks Jim. I'm going to go wind my clock now.

lol. I don't know how extensive your knowledge of the British comedy circuit at the moment is, but there are loads of people who make an appearance at some point. Also, a lot of the film does reflect Coogan's career. I can't remember if you said whether or not you had seen much of Steven Coogan's work, but I would recommend pretty much anything he's been involved in. The Day Today, which he featured in, and Knowing Me, Know You, which he starred in, are two of the best British comedies every made, both naturally having short runs; six episodes a piece. Have you ever had a chance to see either of them?
Another great part of the film is the scene where they watch the battle cut together for the first time.
"I think I saw a Roman centurion at one point."
Oh, and the Al Pacino impressions.

What was the one quote "I'm leading an army of tens"?
When they showed a little kid getting a window shut on his dick, I knew this was going to be something special
My introduction to British comedy was Benny Hill and then Rowan Atkinson, which led to Monty Python. I am a willing student welcoming all suggestions of movies and television shows. I just bought the DVD of A Thin Blue Line and am looking for Blackadder. There were alot of faces I recognised but didn't know the names. My daughter would flip out with all the people from Harry Potter that are in it.
