I watched Click tonight.......I liked it better when it was called "It's A Wonderful Life".

Oh I LOVE It's A Wonderful Life! Now THAT'S a great movie! I bought it on DVD at Christmas for my BF... he's manic depressive so I thought it'd be good for him to see... and he really liked it too!

I wish they'd make more movies like that... that don't rely on stupid special effects and car chases all the time!! We need more great classic movies which actually give advice and make you think!

I agree, I'm a fan of the classics all the way.  Breakfast At Tiffany's will forever be my favorite movie.  Audrey Hepburn was the greatest of all time and not a single actress today can shine onscreen like her.  I think in this day of film, Natalie Portman is about the best thing going in mainstream acting.  You compare stuff like that to movies today like T3 which was one long CGI splattered car chase.

Finally got to see the Stanley Kubrick masterpiece, "A Clockwork Orange" last night and what a both, fucked up, and brilliant movie

The whole movie is centred around the hooligan, Alex who accidentally murders a woman and is then betrayed by his closest friends leaving him to rot in jail or so he thinks...

Alex instead opts for a brainwashing technique that riddles him inable of violence, women, or even his beloved Beethoven...

I wont give away anymore, all I can say it was fuckin' brilliant and I really want to explore more of Stanley Kubrick's library, any suggestions?

Were you sympathetic towards Alex or did you think he was a crazy psychopath?  I could never decide how I felt about him.

Go watch Full Metal Jacket.  The scene with the Vietnamese prostitute is infamous.

Dr. Stranglove is also amazing. Keep your eye on Peter Sellers and his disguises.

I watch Sunset Blvd, a classis from 1950 as part of AFI at Arclight.  It's about a screenwriter who gets involved with an old silent-movie star.  Gloria Swanson (who was a silent-movie star in real life), plays the role magnificently.  I love these film noir stories from the past.  They just dont make 'em like that anymore!

Kubrick's "The Shining" Sucks balls compared to the book.

I don't know....Kubrick did a damn fine job of making it translate to the big screen.  Stephen King's complaints about the movie were pretty far out there.  For one, he thought Jack Nicholson was a poor choice for the lead role.  Because of his recent role in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Next", King assumed that everyone would instantly realize that he's a maniac.  I thought Jack did a chilling job in it.  Second he didn't like the way that Kubrick showed the family breaking down.  I personally thought Kubrick did a great job in the time he had to show Jack's struggle with finally losing it.  Third King thought that Kubrick's transition was just to fit his own taste.  Of course it was, he was the producer of the film.
King got his chance at doing his film version of the Shining and it was absolute rubbish.  Trying to express the whole ordeal his novel's characters were going through via camera didn't work out for him and he even pokes fun at himself in some of his later work. 
The one interesting thing about the film though was that Kubrick made Scatman Corothers actually breakdown and cry during one of his retakes because he had him redoing the line 127 times (it's in the Guinness Book of world records).

In the book Jack is a father trying to get back on his feet for his family, he is actually a great loving husband and a wonderful kind gentle dad.

Kubricks jack is a bastard from the first frame pretty much so when he gets taken over by the hotel its not that big of an effect cause he was already an asshole before the hotel got into him.

Plus the way he dies at the end is lame.

The book is a masterpiece and I recommend everyone read it.

Last movie I recently saw was Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, I bought on DVD and it was well worth it. Great movie, I recommend to any fans of the Final Fantasy game series for the Playstation to go buy this movie, the animation and special effects are phenominal, the character voices are good and the movie is alot of action, but if you know nothing about Final Fantasy VII you might find yourself lost in the movie, you may have to watch it a few times, of course it had its flaws and some things could've been better but for the most part, great movie.

I loved playing FF7.  I was kind of wary about this movie because I didnt like the previous movie 'The Spirits Within' (or something).  But I'll give it a chance.

Last movie I saw was The Big Sleep with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall.  The dialog is really funny for a film noir.  There's 2 versions, a 1945 one, and a 1946 one.  I didnt realize that when I stuck in the dvd.  I thought the dual layer was for extras.  So I watched the 1945 version, then the extras, and then realized there was another version! Apparently, after WW2 was over, they decided to add some extra scenes between Bogie and Bacall because they were now married in real life.  Anyway, watch it if you can

Ahhh a new Kubrick fan yes? ? Great great choice.? A Clockwork Orange is great, however I suggest going and reading Burgesses' final chapter of the book that was omitted from the movie.? It pretty much sums Alex's tale up.? Here's a link to it.

-Full Metal Jacket (The greatest boot camp movie ever made)

-The Shining (A lot different from Stephen King's novel, but in a good way)

-Eyes Wide Shut (This movie gets a lot of shit, but it was Kubrick's last film and he just had a strange vision for it that a lot of people didn't get and they brushed it off, I love it though...the feel of the movie is kickass)

-2001: A Space Odyssey (If you like movies with a lot of action or such, this one isn't for you...there's only 17 minutes of spoken dialogue in the whole 2hour+ film, but the visual surroundings make up for it.)

-Dr. Strangelove (This is a dark comedy and probably his best well-known work.)

I too have heard Eyes Wide Shut is extremely weird, but I can stomach weird movies as long as there is some kind of point to the plot when all is said and done.

I entirely forgot that The Shining was a Kubrick film to tell you the truth, but it has always been one of my favorite horror movies

I thought he was a crazy psychopath up throughout most of the movie up until he got out of jail only to discover he was kicked out of his own home, and wasn't allowed back in...
