Last night I rented out 'The Longest Yard' and 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. I watched The Longest Yard last night, which stars Chris Rock and Adam Sandler and also Burt Reynolds (due to the fact, he was in the 1974 film of the same name).

Anyway, The Longest Yard is one of those comedies where you switch off the thinking part of your brain and engage the mindless humour part and laugh yourself silly.

Just got through watching a documentary about life as an Afghan woman. It was very eye-opening. Some of the laws are changing for the better, it's a slow process.

I saw 'Porco Rosso' last night.  It was, of course, a fantastic film, as i've come to expect from Hayao Miyazaki.  Every film of his i've seen has been pure magic, except for the shitty 'Howls Moving Castle' - don't watch that unless you're stupid and girly.

But yeah, 'Porco Rosso' is a cracking bounty hunter film.  Recommended. ok

Miyazaki's best i think. amazing, even more when you realise it was made in 92.
and yeah movingcastle was shitty. but it wasnt his story so he couldnt really master it. and there too many influence from his other movies.

As much as I enjoyed Porco Rosso, I think Miyazaki's best films are definately Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind.  I couldn't choose between those two, they are both wonderful films.

I saw Me, Myself and Irene last night.  I'm a big fan of Jim Carrey, but this film was just really poor.  Total waste of my time.

last movies

i went to see

The Saddest Music in the world
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0366996/

original. reminds me of Citizen Kane (ambiance) and , in its wierdness, the 9 Lives of Thomas Katz ... interesting movie.

A sort-of musical set in Winnipeg during the Great Depression, where a beer baroness organizes a contest to find the saddest music in the world. Musicians from around the world descend on the city to try and win first place - a $25,000 prize.

What could only be titled as Cinema of the Ridiculous, Maddin's latest masterpiece, about a no-legged beer queen who hosts a Winnipeg-set competition to see which nation has the saddest music in the world, is filled to the gills with wacky ideas, but the reason it's a great film is because of the heartfelt feeling behind it. Maddin's genuine love for the silent cinema that he emulates (and attachment to the pathetic characters he creates) makes it possible for him to sustain a comic tone without it ever becoming mocking - imdb

interesting indeed.

still gotta go see walk the line ...

I agree about Narnia, but why did Peter hold his sword with only two fingers?

lmao I'm watching America's Next Top Model... its fuckin' hilarious!! They're all SO shallow!! I wanna slap em all!!

I love that show. It's true, some of the girls don't have a problem with confidence. hihi But there are a few girls who come on the show not knowing how to apply makeup, pose for pictures or walk in high heels, and it's interesting too see them learn the trade in a short period of time.

Yea... but the funniest thing is how they get worked up over the tiniest thing!!

This pageant queen girl had to have her hair cut short from long, and they didn't cut it short enough, and when Tyra said she was gunna cut it an inch shorter, the girl just let her utter shallowness show through and she walked out of the show because of that!!

I wanted to scream and shout at her for giving up an opportunity just because of her hair!! RAAAH!!

Fucking idiot cried every time she looked in the mirror, even if she did look a helluva lot better with short hair! Roll Eyes

I couldn't believe that either. She obviously didn't consider it to be such a great opportunity.

I just can't believe that she couldn't see how much better she looked!

I loved how that looked! And she was so much better as a blonde.

She shoulda been goddamn grateful that she got a free haircut that looked great! But no!! She deserved a good old fashioned whipping! smoking

Agreed I really enjoyed it!

Also agree with Narnia.. top movie. I never thought I'd like it considering its a kids flick and I never really read the books as a kid. Looking forward to the next one.

Last night watched something called "Sins of the Mother" on TrueMovies...

Twas about this guy who's mother belittled him and made him believe that he was a worthless sack of shit, and then in later life he went around raping and beating up women who had the same features as her, but didn't believe he did anything... because he was schizophrenic.

The guy is Kevin Coe... dunno if y'all have heard of him, he's currently serving 25 years in jail.
