Charlie and The Chocolate Factory about as good as i thought it was going to be ,but if it wasn't for Depp it would have probable been a stinker.

Do u know that Lefty didnt get killed by the mob.

before he made it to get snuffed out, the FBI intercepted him, he ended up dying in jail.

True story.

Is there a book on the story?  I thought I read something about an autobiography that the real Joe Pistone wrote.

Id say more than likely, there is a documentary that came on A&E about it and they told how Lefty didnt make it to get bumped off.

It was very interesting.

Pistone also isnt any hiding anymore as Depp spent a lot of time with him. Looks like Johnny would be scared since he knows Pistone's whereabouts, Id be afraid to get kidnapped and made to tell where he lives.

There was a book that came out long before the movie did. It goes alot more in depth into the "Donnie Brasco" project. An interesting read, but a bit long. Pistone did appear in the movie as a background character but I never found out what scene it was.

The Salton Sea.  Ace Val Kilmer film done in 2002.  He carries off the role of a tweaker real well and the story enfolds perfectly, no stupid amounts of twists but a nice one or so later on when everything fits together, it's depressing in parts but at the same time has a refreshing and quite happy ending.

I will say for sure, since I got this book! Smiley Written by Pistone himself. You will understand a lot of stuff they're speaking about in the movie. Great movie, actually it was based on Pistone's book.

Last movie I saw: Layer Cake. Very good British mob movie. If you liked Face, you'll love this one! The main actor is amazing, unfortunately I don't recall his name. The end is...surprising, but overall the movie was a blast.

Napoleon Dynamite is ok but drags on and loses its gimmick after awhile and becomes dull in my opinion

just watched Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, first time Ive been out of bed since 2pm in a very long time

Great movie if u can seperate it from the original

Johnny Depp's weirdest most eccentric performance yet.

napoleon dynamite rocks.
at least here in france as it's not well known yet, so i guess i m gonna walk around with a VOTE FOR PEDRO tee shirt and be cool, i heard the movie is like teen-trendy in the us ... so that sucks.

Johnny Depp's weirdest most eccentric performance yet. > you mean out of his 1 2 3 4 .... 85 eccentric performances ? Grin

Wedding Crashers

I'm with the big guy here.

The montages at the beggining, I felt...

...Hmm. This is going to be 'funny'.

I only really went to see it for Vince Vaughn.

Surely the best comedy actor in Hollywood at the moment, by a great deal?

The guy is a fucking genius.

He's been compared to early Billy Murray, and deservadly so.

The ending is great, in a sweet/kick ass way.

Im saw Wedding Crashers also and it's pretty damn funny.

Agreed with the cliched ending but the line "would it be a cliche?..." kinda removed the "oh shit this ending" feeling for me

i saw BLOOD AND BONES last night

japanese movie about an abusive monster father (Beat Takeshi Kitano) in the 30s / 40s.

movie is very shocking (sexualy, and morally)
but Kitano is : wow ! breathtaking as the monster father.

Did a little catching up this week:

Charlie & The Chocolate Factory: Another good effort by the duo of Burton and Depp
Bad News Bears: Except for Billy Bob re-doing his Bad Santa character(somewhat) this was a waste of time
Wedding Crashers: Beginning 10-15 minutes suck, than it takes off. Not going to change the world but very funny. Yes, Vince Vaughn plays the same character in almost every film, but he makes me laugh in all his films so dont mess with success. There are some scenes in here tha will become classics.
Batman Begins: Wow. This was a fantastic movie. Yes there were some plot holes, but I think Christopher Nolan did a god job at making an action movie that doesnt insult the viewers intelligence too much. I was impressed with Christian Bale. Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman should be in every movie.

Charlie & The Chocolate Factory... I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting, but this didn't quite do it for me.  Violet was definetaly my favourite of the kids... she got the best Oompa Loompa song too.  It had it's moments, but overall I was a little let down.

Hellboy... aside from obvious attemps to keep a PG rating for the movie, it was actually really entertaining.  I laughed for 5 minutes when he chucked the rock at the guy's head.
