That article on
The Shining
was very interesting. It's a very new and believable way of looking at the film, although parts of it did sound a little inplausable.
Last film I saw was
Sin City
, and it absolutely lived up to all of the hype for me. It was a truely excellent film, reminding me a lot of Pulp Fiction but with it's own very unique angle. I highly, highly recommend watching this film while it's out in the cinema because it really is an experience.

Madagascar- It was ok, nothing special. The CGI work on this movie was terrible.

Watched that last night. A great comedy that is still hilarious 20 years later. I've seen a few lately that I used to love but absolutely sucked years later, in my opinion(Fast Times At Ridgemont High, although Spicoli still is cool, and The Toy)

Fast Times At Ridgemont High, was great in they day but your right it didn?t age well .
Beside Spicoli ?s stuff the only great thing about it is when Judge Reinhold tells the costumer that he is going to kick 100% of his ass if he doesn?t shit up.

The Butterfly Effect
Pretty good movie. Not a big fan of Kutcher but I thought he did well in the movie.

Both great movies
I watched Dr. Strangelove this weekend. I liked it but I was expecting the more typical comedy and it wound up being a movie that you had to pay attention to get the jokes, other than Dr. Strangeloves homicidal right hand, that is.
Peter Sellers was excellent as usual

I really hate that attitude. Right now World cinema is probably the strongest it's ever been, but because of nostalgia and the constant certainty that everything modern is rubbish, people don't appreciate it. It's not like the music industry - films are getting better all the time as CGI is being used more maturely, directors are being given more freedom and we're getting influences from all over the world at the moment. You have options now - if you're bored of Hollywood you can turn to French cinema, or indie cinema, or Japanese cinema, or anime. What was so great about the 60s? Back in those days films were heavily cencored and could rarely manage to be as intense and engaging as the likes of Sin City, Star Wars III or Dead Leaves. Also, supposedly the actresses in those days used to literally sleep their way to the top, and these days people complain that the likes of Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman are only successful because of their looks, it's just really hypocritical.
I know I put a lot of words into your mouth there, but i'm talking about the way lots of people think, not you in particlar. On what you said, don't you think the 70s kicked a hell of a lot of ass, giving us Kubrick's films and some of the best horror films ever as well as the Star Wars trilogy, while the 80s gave us the Willis/Schwarzenegger/Van Damme action classics, as well as Jaws, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones and loads more?

Sin City
I swore i had been in the cinema for 4 hours - imagine my shock when it was just 2!
Tedious and went nowhere - did the other two 'stories' have any relevevance to each other?
And 2 hours of people being tortured? I'm proud to say i don't find that entertaining - maybe there is something wrong with me?

Star Wars III
It was pretty good, a lot better than I & II was. Though it?s stupid, that while watching them to fight, you can tell who will die and who wont.
