Insidious 2 - High end sequel to a great initial film. Lots of jumps which settle down as the film goes on. If you want an extreme experience, stay awake for 24 hours, then go and see it. It is the best way to see horrors, if a little unhealthy.

Cloudy With Meatballs 2 - Sony's sequel to their first animation. I liked it, but it is not as magical as the first one, as the humour is a little forced. Nonetheless, it is better than the snail film

Thor 2 A good solid film, it will end up 7.5 on IMDB in the end. It is a fine follow up to the first movie. The action is more off Earth, and when it is on Earth it works ok, just very English and a little 'Carry On Thor'. Loki, although English, is the highlight of the movie. He is perfectly cast in his role, and offer lots of cynical humour. Thor and his lady are fine in their roles as well.

Gravity - An odd one. It's is done B Movie stylee, sticking to the usual 90 minute format. It also has to be seen in 3D otherwise you miss the impact of the film. Where I possibly have an issue is the dialogue. They could have gone one of two ways, cheesey popcorn fun, or serious; and they have ultimately gone with the latter. Sandra Bullock is amazing in the movie, and if the serious stuff works for some people, it will be because of her. For me, I did not feel anything for her one because there was not enough character development. George Clooney does not spoil it, but it is like casting Buzz Lightyear in a serious role. I think I would have preferred a good Armageddon style cheesey movie with the same actors, with more cheesey dialogue and less life analysis

Gravity--agree with the post above that it has to be seen in 3D. Highly recommended in 3D.
Parkland--a surprisingly shallow look at the JFK assassination. As if we don't have enough coverage on TV. I do not recommend this movie at all.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire - Brilliant film. Some people may not buy into the whole storyverse, but I think it's great. The characters are really quirky, and I love the mixture of actors/actresses in the movie. There's something cool about the film, and for me the cast sets these films above others like Twilight. Also, as a sequel, this film is better than the first.

21 JUMP Street. I absolutely loved this film. I laughed so hard. You have the right to remain silent.... Ice Cube stole the show!

The Hobbit the Desolation of Smaug. A little long, but visually stunning. Richard Armitage has the most beautiful blue eyes in the world! And Manu Bennett was awesome as Azog the Defiler. But my heart belongs to the dragon.

Frozen - Not too bad. it is a musical Disney affair, the story is predictable and it draws you in a little. It is slightly more old school than recent films, but a great film for Xmas and the family. The 3D Mickey Mouse presentation before it though is the single most amazing thing in the history of Disney (obviously watch in 3D).

I love FROZEN! Elsa reminds me a little of Danerys Stormborn mother of Dragons from Game of Thrones.! I am going to dragon con in a Elsa/ Dany costume hee hee!

A Medea Christmas. I laughed my ass off, a true gem.

THOR 2. Totally awesome. My facebook friends Manu Bennett and Dustin Clare from Spartacus and Emilia Clarke from game of Thrones totally need to be in the next Thor movie!

I hate to say this, but Thorin Oakenshield is annoying as hell. And he was mean to the dragon. But he is gorgeous to look at.

Blue Jasmine - A brilliant film in it's own right. Jasmine is a complicated character, and as such, I can fully understand why Cate Blanchett is being nominated for awards this season. Woody Allen has kept it all short and simple, not too much music, no fancy opening and closing credits. It feels all quite pure which in it's own way adds to the darkness of the film. It is an interesting and awkward film

Hobbit 2 - Great film, better than the first because there was more action. I know lots of oddball things have been added to fill out the film, but I have enjoyed it all so far. With these long films though, I do miss having a break in the middle, an intermission.

Mandela - What an great film. The Idris actor who plays Mandela was amazing, I am suprised he has not received any nominations this year. I get that alot of his life story has been missed out, but what an amazing story.

Paranormal Activity - The Dark Ones - It was ok(ish), but definitely the worst one to date. The actors look like they had fun making it, and it is that energy which carries the film.

Walter Mitty A very polished film, full of whimsy, some nice scenery, some slight melodrama, some light comedy and, of course, a nice ending (which I guessed).

Wolf of Wall Street - It is a very good film, great performances from all involved. It feels like an editors cut film though, far too long, too many meandering scenes, and far to many shock sequences which get dull after a while. It feels like an Oscar contender was there with better editing. There are some classic scenes though. The film is too long though

Rush

The movie about the 1976 Formula One season and the rivalry between drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda.
As a fan of F1, it was very cool. If you don't like F1, it's still a great movie and a great story.

Riddick - It was ok, better than the second not as good as the first.

I saw the Broadway play version of Romeo and Juliet with Orlando Bloom on fathom events on Valentine's day. Seeing the ICe Truck killer play Mercutio was priceless!
