This was IMO the worst summer movie season in recent memory... I haven't had much desire to see hardly anything that has came out.

As far as the summer movie season goes, I really, really enjoyed X-Men: First Class.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Super 8 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II were also really good. Everything else I saw was either mediocre (Cowboys & Aliens, Thor) or flat out sucked (Transformers 3, POTC 4).

Really?  This year had 3 comic book movies that were better than the one decent comic book movie of 2010 (Iron Man 2, not Jonah Hex). Plus this year there was Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Super 8, Harry Potter, and a few good comedies.
Last year had what?  ATeam, Karate Kid, Twilight, Knight and Day. The only good movies were Toy Story 3 and Inception.   Last year was the worst in recent memory.

I belatedly saw 'I Am Number 4' and I thought it was ok, and I would see a sequel. There were some parts of the film that felt too long, but it was ok.

Finally saw the new 'Nightmare on Elm St'

Not ,much of a freddy fan, but damn this movie really makes you miss Robert Engulnd... Boring, what did freddy have, 4 Kills the whole movie?

Piranha... What a fun movie... Over the top gore cant be beat... Great to see a back to the future reunion of sorts, and other familiar faces in a tongue and cheek movie

Fright Night 3D - This film was fun to watch, a good mix of horror and humor. Colin Farrell was excellent in his role as the baddie, his bet output since Bruges. David Tennant was ok in his role, but I did not rate it as highly as some of the press reviews. He is an actor to follow though. The 3D was ok in parts, but not worth paying the extra for.

I think Tintin will be the next big 3D event.

You are very right. Last year we were spoiled with alot of good, gritty films all throughout the year. This year has been about The A Team, Knight and Day etc.. all of which I enjoyed for their bubblegum enjoyment, but they are not films to win Oscars. Super 8 may get a couple of minor Oscars, and the Fanning girl acted well, and could get some minor awards.

I hope that better films come out in the next few months.

I completely agree. It just suddenly ended. Spielberg endings are usually dramatic and long. I wanted to know more about the thing and it's 'things' that the film is about, without giving too much away.

Maybe they were working to a deadline or they run out of funds. It is a shame whatever happened.

Paul -- Good flick with good actors... Too bad this movie didn't do a little better in theaters to justify a sequel

Oscars nominations so far?

And, oscar nominations for film yet to be released?

I am a big film watcher so I like to read people's opinions.  peace

Midnight in Paris - Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress (Marion Cotillard), Best Costume & Design, Best Picture.

Midnight in Paris is 8th favorite  peace. I will see this as soon as I can.

Top 10, betting wise are;

1) War Horse
2) J Edgar
3) Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
4) The Ides of March (where were GN;R  Roll Eyes)
5) The Tree of Life
6) Tinker Tailor Solider Spy
7) Midnight in Paris
Cool The Artist
9) The Decendants
10) The Iron Lady

If any of you see any of these films, I would be interested in a review  peace

Been watching a lot of Korean films lately. "The Good, The Bad, & The Wierd", "Old Boy", and "I Saw the Devil" are all excellent movies that really show how dull Hollywood has become with the movies that get greenlighted.

Strangely, so have I. The Good, The Bad, The Weird and I Saw the Devil were fantastic. The Man From Nowhere and Mother are also excellent, if you haven't seen them.
