Drag Me To Hell
: I'm baffled that so many people actually like this movie. I hated it with a passion. I prefer my horror serious, not silly and campy and stupid.
what did you expect? It wasn't supposed to be serious. The conception of it the whole time was that the creator of the evil dead series was back with an evil dead type of film and that's exactly what it was and I loved it.
The initial trailers for it didn't didn't give away any of that campiness, though. It looked like a legitimately scary movie. Then I started reading the reviews about how "hilarious" it was and my expectations went way, way down. I went into it knowing I was going to hate it, but my friends kept saying it was going to be a good movie. They came away hating it too. I understand that certain people out there like movies like Drag Me to Hell, but I still think if it had been directed by anyone other than Sam Raimi, the reviews would be nowhere near as positive. I mean, I like the first Evil Dead movie, but the second one, which most consider a classic, I found it unwatchable. And I've never even bothered with Army of Darkness. I'm just not into those kind of movies.

Something tells me from your post that you wouldn't like it:

I just got the DVD of 'A Clockwork Orange'
Fucking brilliant
, they don't make them like that anymore
GNR-Chris
I like that movie as well, have you ever read the book?
I reccomend it, I found myself picking up on the artificial language with no problem "went to the moloka bar with my droogs".
The film adaptation was brilliant, I'm usually disappointed when I read a book and then see the movie-I always imagine it differently, like with Stephen King's "Needful things"-loved the book hated the movie.
Back to Clockwork Orange- they staged the moloka bar scenes nicely, also the break-in and "singing in the rain" bit just made it over the top. Good taste!

For a horror film to take itself seriously, it needs to be very good. The genre is flooded with movies these days and only the very good ones shine.
'Drag Me To Hell' does not take itself seriously, supplies a few jumps and a few laughs at the same time. It does the right thing in the right genre.

An example of a really good "horror comedy" is
Shaun of the Dead
. I love that movie. It's hilarious. But it's funny because of the dialogue and the stupidity of the characters, not because of silly, ridiculous sight gags like in
Drag Me to Hell
, where you've got fucking blankets that attack people. Fucking blankets, okay? BLANKETS!!

I laughed my ass off at that movie, but I knew what to expect, as I have seen the director's work before. Army of Darkness is great as well, and this movie
totally redeemed my fear of Blankets, evil things Blankets are

We just watched it, (
Taken
), and yes, it was really good. I loved the way Liam Neeson was just all about kicking ass to get his daughter back. He didn't even blink!! When he shot his friend's wife in the arm, I was just beside myself! Whatever it takes!!

The Hangover
- This was a good film, lots of funny moments. All the the main characters were great and acted well in their roles. One sliight negative is that I thought there was some slight sick awkward humor that did not need to be there
T4 Salvation
- Thought this was ok. There's a good film there, but I thought it was all done too seriously, and Bale was far too OTT in his role.
Last Door on the Left
Again, I thought this was a very watchable movie. Hardcore horror fans will like the cut, but they should have had a slightly lighter version at the cinemas. The script got a little tame and stretched towards the end.

Haha, I remember seeing that in the theater and laughing my ass off....there were a whole bunch of people who were uncomfotable because it was like they didn't know if it was ok or not to laugh. Whatever, it was damn near a comedy to me until the end.
