I absolutely LOVED Star Trek! It made me cry a few times. Yes, I am a trekkie! This movie was as exciting as seeing the very first STAR WARS movie. One of the best movies I have seen in a long time!

Star Trek.

And, I only realised this today, that the Dark Tower series is in the hands of this guy...

...

Fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff...

Is that a good Ffffffffffffffffff  or a bad Ffffffffffffffffff?

I ask because I am enormously interested in the Dark Tower series. It had better be done right!!

Star Trek: I'm not into Sci-fi stuff. I've never seen a single episode of any Star Trek series (hell, I've never even seen the original Star Wars movies), so I didn't really want to see this movie . . . but I went with my friends and saw it anyway. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It's got a lot of action, it's fast-paced, and it's got a little humor here and there. I don't think it's anywhere near as great as people are making it out to be, but it's a good summer movie.

Those books are so good and there's so many, I'm not sure they could ever be done justice by anyone. And with movie versions of SK stories it's always hit or miss. Some are fantastic, some are terrible.
I'm really conflicted on whether I want these made into movies or not. If they could really capture... I mean really capture the essence of the books, with superb visual effects(like the LOTR movies), I'd be fine with it. Anything less would probably just piss me off.

Well, if you like your Dark Tower watered down, dumbed down, pretty much spun round and...

Anyway, I'm in the minority. Star Trek wasn't a bad movie, and I guess that's the point... That something as mediocre as that film is a supposed five star smash... I... Well, it appears that my word count for the day is up. I can't talk. Maybe it's the beer, but even if it isn't, my man gilee7 can round of what I'm-a trying to say for me:

I don't think it's anywhere near as great as people are making it out to be

Aye. A part of me would rather wait a decade or so, when the tv budget (or, rather, what you can do with a tv budget) is such that HBO can do it justice over the course of a few series. But, hey, I still think that is how Watchmen should be done in the future. A twelve part (chapter a piece) series would suit me down to the ground...

Did it get good reviews, too?, the kind of insane reviews that leave you (... leave me) baffled?

Aye... I try to avoid specific reviews myself as well, but you usually can't avoid the general consensus. But hey, at least you have the hope that this incarnation will be shelved...

Angels and Demons. Not as good as the book but much better than DaVinci Code.

I completely agree with you. The Da Vinci Code movie lacked momentum and felt too sequenced.

Yeah, I thought it was like a really bad James Bond movie.

Deception (2008) - Starring Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, and Ewan McGregor. I thought this was a pretty good suspense film. I like Charlotte Rampling as well, so it was nice to see her in the film.

Halloween (2007) - This movie was okay but nothing special. I just wish that Sheri Moon Zombie would have had a much bigger roll. And being that it is a Rob Zombie film, you can always expect the classic rock song play list through out the film.
