I really can't see what's so great about that Twilight movie! I've only seen parts of it on tv, and it looks like teenage angst / fluff mostly. Tell me that's not the case and MAYBE I'll go see it. How would you compare it to, say, Interview With The Vampire?

I am so with you on this.  I actually heard the books were just as bad as the movie.   Everyone of my friends that went to see it because they were seriously interested came out laughing.  It's for emo teens.

I don't think "Interview With the Vampire" was done properly either.  I don't think anyone can truly capture Rice's vision when writing those books.
I respectfully disagree. TWILIGHT is for romantics. A movie like that does not make $300 million worldwide unless it truly touches people. Interview with the Vampire was not as good as the book, but Brad Pitt did a fine job as Louis.

See, the thing is....Hannah Montana makes money too.  Depends on who your target audience is.  Even though it's a bit campy, I love True Blood.  I even liked Interview although I would have never cast the characters as such.  As for romance, my perception of that surely differs from that when I was 13.

I generally love all things having to do with Vampires and I will probably watch it eventually but after I am all tapped out of other things to watch.

Hannah Montanna makes alot of money with the whole franchise, but the movie did not make anything near $325 million, $90million worldwide. Neither did High School Musical,$245 million worlwide.. TWILIGHT was aimed at teens, but it also has attracted an adult audience. Stephenie Meyer's whole TWILIGHT saga was inspired by a dream. She never read any of the Ann Rice novels and she never saw Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I think people like TWILIGHT because Rob Pattinson is such a gifted actor that he really brings Edward Cullen to life. Both he and Kristin Stewart never read the books before doing the  movie. They had no idea what a huge following it had. I really want to see TRUEBLOOD when it comes out on DVD. I also loved FOREVER KNIGHT and MOONLIGHT. I was heartbroken when both those shows were cancelled. I alos loved SPIKE on Buffy the Vamoire Slayer. But I'm the same girl who had all the male vampires from the cast of the musical LESTAT kiss her on the neck inbetween GNR shows  at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

True Blood is an awesome show. I'm not looking forward to waiting until summer for the new season. My friends bought me The Sookie Stackhouse Books and i'm quite enjoying them although they differ from the show quite a bit.

Wall-E: The first forty minutes of the movie are virtually silent, which was really starting to test my patience, but once Wall-E leaves Earth, I started to really enjoy the movie. For a G-rated family film, it's suprisingly heavy, basically saying we're a bunch of lazy fatasses destroying the planet while also relying too much on technology. Beautiful animation, Wall-E's hilarious. Great film; very cute, but also makes you think.

Curious Case of Benjamin Button: Not the masterpiece some make it out to be, but it is a great film--- definitely one of the best of 2008. The special effects are extraordinary and so are the performances (I never realized Cate Blanchett was so hot!). It's three hours long but it doesn't feel like it. A lot of people compare it to Forrest Gump, and rightfully so--- it's written by the same dude and both movies share a lot of the same themes. However, Benjamin Button didn't strike that same emotional chord with me as Gump did.

My Bloody Valentine 3-D: Without 3-D this would've been unwatchable. The plot is generic and predictable, and the characters are some of the stupidest to ever grace the screen. However, being in 3-D, it's actually kind of fun. Pickaxes fly at you, along with dismembered limbs, eyeballs, explosions, bullets, etc. Plus there's a 10-minute scene where this hot blond chick is being chased by the killer while wearing nothing but a pair of heels. Seeing her in 3-D is worth the price of admission alone!  Grin

Still to see BB. Wall-E is great though.

My Bloody Valentine was ok, 3D. It didn't use the 3D as much as I thought it would. It was still ok though as a film. I'm a fan of Supernatural so I knew what to expect from 'Dean'.

I am a huge fan of Supernatural. Is Dean in the movie?

yeah he's there. he's is one of the main characters. Im a huge supernatural fan so thats the only reason i went to go see the movie. Next is Friday the 13th with Sam  smoking

Thanks for the recommendation. I rather enjoyed the movie. They really kept you guessing til the end. I was the only person in the theater. Last year when I went to France I wanted to go to the catacombs in Paris. My friends and I decided that I would be filled with so much light from visiting Lourdes that some evil spirit would latch onto me down there. I said to myself, "Girl, you are watching TOO MUCH SUPERNATURAL!"

We visited some catacombs in Tunisia, they were quite spooky. We had a little kitten show us around. The wierd thing was, where all the bones were, the kitten wouldn't enter.

Supernatural is great, I've seen all episodes and am fully up to date on Season 4.

Recent movies seen;

The Wrestler - Strange film. Depressing, but watchable.

Slumdog Millionaire - Great film. Well worth an oscar

Defiance - An amazing story, but the film went on slightly too long.

Bride Wars - Got dragged to this one. It was ok, one for the girls I think.

That's interesting about the kitten. The CATACOMBS in Paris is considered one of the top 10 scariest sites in the world. I just saw THE WRESTLER. It made me cry. I'm not quite sure about what happens to him after the movie ends. . I hope Mickey wins the Oscar! 80's music was so awesome! And SUPERNATURAL is AWESOME. I could spend hours though, trying to decide who is the cutest, Sam or Dean. They both get 10's on the AXL scale. SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE was fabulous. I have no desire to see BRIDE WARS even though I am a huge Kate Hudson fan, I'm just not the type of girl who dreams of a big fantasy wedding.

Been to Paris many times, never done the catacombs. I will do that next time I go. The last tier of the Eiffel tower with the old elevator was enough for me, I think  hihi

I like Mickey Rourke, not sure about the Oscar nomination though. I'll see the other movies first before making a decision. I liked SCOM in the movie though. The last segment of the movie was the best.

Kate Hudson is a great actress. She needs to connect to the right movies. Almost Famous was a great movie. Seen it many times.

This is the first year that I really don't want to see most of the films that have been nominated. I hope SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE wins. I chickened out of going to the CATACOMBS in Paris. I had more fun shopping at VICTORIA COUTURE for designer Hello Kitty items. hihi I loved Kate Hudson in ALMOST FAMOUS. I had something similar happen to me like what happened to her  in the scene where the guy blew her off. That movie did more for me than any amount of psychotherapy!  I was so mad that she didn't win the Oscar that year that I threw something at my TV! When they played SCOM in THE WRESTLER it really made me cry!

I don't think I'll see The Reader. It looks too depressing. We'll see. I will see the others, probably. The film with De Caprio and Winslet looks tame as well.

You should go to Hong Kong for Hello Kitty. There are loads of market stalls and shops selling Hello Kitty items at good prices. The tourist market on the south of the main island is the best.

I hope Mickey mentions Axl at the Oscars if he wins! I cannot believe Brad Pitt is up for an Oscar. I have enjoyed many of his movies, but....  hihi

That would be the best if Mickey thanked Axl at the Oscars. I can't afford to go to Hong Kong anytime soon but I would be in Hello Kitty heaven. In the meantime, there is always EBAY! I really liked the TOKIDOKI for Hello Kitty line from Japan!

When I was MUCH much younger, my parents made a few trips to Tokyo because my Dad worked for JVC.  It was around the time Hello Kitty was 1st popular.  My Mom brought me back Hello Kitty everything and I was in HEAVEN. love  I wish now that I had saved some of that stuff for the revival!

On topic I watched W. last night and had to seriously refrain from throwing my snacks at my screen.  Don't have a clue why I punished myself this way.

I heard The Reader was a bit of a snooze.  I did see Revolutionary Road and man it was terribly depressing.  At the end I pretty much had lost my faith in humanity and relations.  A lot of the nominations this year are kind of a downer-even Slumdog, which is awesome, has a fairly sad premise behind it.

Frost/Nixon - Great film/story, could have been slightly shorter. Slumdog still my fave for the Oscar.
