Funeral For My Valentine
Bullet for A Friend
Avenged Seven Fold
were all just screaming emo crap the only reason i put up with them was because GNFNRS were playing next shame we cant have a decent non screaming real rock band to open for them liikee.....hmmmm....let me think....errr....a ha er no ......fuck it were has the real music gone ah i know how about The Prodigy opening for GNR id be up for that?
I know what you mean about where has the real music gone. All these bands of today are shit-they're just following a trend(a crap one at that). In my opinion gnr are the only band left who make 'real' music.I also didn't enjoy bullet for my valentine, there's way too much of that screaming shit(that's not music!).Although i must say the lead singer(i think his name is mathew tuck(?!)) is hot!

There are good bands out there today folks, just look a little harder - they're not all as bad as Funeral For A Friend

I know Buckcherry have ties to Velvet Revolver, but is there any way they would ever open for GnR? That would be a great show.

I think gnr should get some older style ands to play with them at their shows like some 80's bands it would remind people of the good ol days

Hear, hear. I doubt if the people who stick to the 80s like them tho.
On topic, I hope GNR fans aren't too hard on the supporting acts on the spot.

just what we need, a nostalgia tour. i hope this was sarcastic. this is the opposite of what they should do. they need to expose themselves to new fans. one way of doing this is by getting bands that actually sound current and not dated. it may make people such as some of those that posted here a little upset because they are still living in 1989 or early 90's or whatever, but it allows high school kids that may be into avenged sevenfold see what all the legend of gnr is all about. in order for gnr to be as important today as they were back in the day, they need the support of a new generation of fans.

I think they should have Leonard Cohen open up...that would fuck with peoples heads...no really GN'R needs to bring Placebo to the US, either that or Wolfmother, or Muse. Or Gnarls Barkley that would be "CRAZY," I could see Axl covering that song...lol

I hated Bullet but I wish A7X opened instead of Bullet on the 17th in Hammerstein. A7X rules.

Emo: Emotive Hardcore. The Emo genre has its roots in the late 70's but officially came into being in the mid 80's in Washington, but afterwards died down quite radically. What is called 'emo' now, is actually pop-punk. Examples of Emo bands: Rites Of Spring, Moss Icon. Examples of bands labeled emo that aren't: My Chemical Romance, The Used ect.
Believe me, I've gotten this lecture several a time by my friend, so I've pretty much memorized it. And now we're all smarter, ja?
And my opinion of the opening acts: While I haven't seen them live, based on what I've heard, they're rather 'meh'. Avenged Sevenfold do have a decent guitarist though.
I generally agree with this assessment of 'emo'. and it didn't necessarily start out bad, but some bands have made it have bad connotations.
That said, anyone who calls Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet for my Valentine emo has no idea what they are talking about. they have no grasp of music in the now and probably only listen to the same stuff they listened to 10 to 15 to 20 years ago. the whole time complaining that there are no good bands out there anymore and today's bands "don't have a clue". these people are funny to me in their ingorance.
that said. funeral for a friend suck. the have no "teeth". boring.

Basically you're all a bunch of fucking morons... Bullet for my Valentine are fucking crazily good.? They are incredibly talented, write heavy but melodic tunes ...? Anyone who labels them is a dick.? By the definition of labels, Guns N' Roses are a fucking hair band....
Just stop slagging off BFMV, because they're amazing.? And live, they sound incredible ...
I was near the front for their set at Download - they sucked.? Like Busted on steroids.? Melodic?? I can only think of about one riff that vaguely caught my attention, the vocals were sucky - they almost sound ok until they start growling and screaming, I find that so boring.? And before you say anything I like Strapping Young Lad, where screaming works with the music not against it.? So they have technique, great.? They were wearing Megadeth and Metallica t-shirts - now there are two bands with awesome technique and yet have the talent to turn it into decent music.? I fucking love metal but that wasn't a very good metal band I heard.
As for "By the definition of labels, Guns N' Roses are a fucking hair band...", what the fuck are you talking about?
The only band I saw at Download that were worse was Funeral For A Friend?
FFAF were rubbish ... but I WAS ALSO there at Download and BFMV played a blinder of a set.? I fucking hate most of the 'fans' here because they're so fucking small and closed minded.? And you sir, fit into that category... you like Strapping Young lad?? Why?? It's not music.? It seriously IS noise... You know how I see it ... you never gave Bullet a chance... you just fucking went in thinking something and came out thinking the same without giving a chance.? Pathetic.
You know what also makes me laugh .... most of the people here will suck Axl's cock til it's Raw, over band members, and his actions in public, ie: court etc.... yet his choice of support act (yes... HIS ... he's powerful enough to have that decision), get's slagged most of the time ... usually doesn't matter what band it is ...
Oh well... I'm going to go and listen to Bullet now ... and enjoy it... I hope you enjoy the GnR album, because it sounds like it's all you wanna listen to...
go and enjoy your crappy band message board`s
