I think that I'm the only person in the world that likes the theme. I heard that it was Chris Cornell and I was made up, but then everybody said it was rubbish so I never downloaded it. The first time I heard it was during the title sequence on Thursday, and I thought that it was great! 'Pop rock,' so what!, psh. It did what it was supposed to as a Bond theme, and I heard it again in town today and still thought that it was great!

As for the film... Well. Honestly, my hands were sweating during the first chase scene. Absolutely amazing! Daniel Craig IS Bond now, as far as I'm concerned.

Shaken or stirred, "does it look like I give a damn,"

and,

"the valet ticket as well."

Brilliant!

I really digged the Bond theme as well.

I knew what the song was called and that it was by Chris Cornell before, but I decided to wait for the movie.

Was a pretty cool song, and I digged it!

Now some people I know were saying about the love scenes and shit, and complaining. The thing I found with this is that its the background and character of who James Bond is and how he became such a ladies man and doesn't really care and can be cold.

People did not seem to get that, I suppose thats cause the movie is suppose to be the first one yet is set in todays time frame.

I will admit as well I was a hater of Craig I thought he looked stupid. But after seeing the movie I was very impressed.

Still I am a huge Timothy Dalton fan. But Craig did an excellent job.

Just don't judge something until you have seen it..

More than meets the eye

Agreed it loses steam in the final third, after the torture scene it goes slightly flat but does go into the aspects of the Bond character that explain why he is the way he is.

Does it actually explain anything though?

I adored the film - but Bond was pretty much the same character at the end as he was at the start, the events of the film dont really seem to have altered him much - and that was one area i was hoping would be developed

But only a minor point, top class film

Well I think it was just to try to explain why he treats women the way he does in later films, because he fell for Vesper and she betrayed him, so he decided to close himself to women from then on. Although your right when he was with the terrorists wife at that beach club he treated her just like any woman in any other Bond film and they made a point of saying he had his 'armour' on with Vesper a couple of times too. He was pretty much the Bond we all know at the beginning and at the end he just was a bit softer in the middle. Either way though like you said it doesn't take away from the film. I'm thinking of seeing it again at the weekend? yes

I'd imagine the film was supposed to begin with him really appreciating women and ending with him callously using them in the way he does in future films, looks like they wanted to do that but kind of fell into a well worn role and lacked the confidence to be more 'radical' in that area

Saw it today, absolutely brilliant ! Some minor flaws, but hey, this is a Bond film, even the flaws have their charm.

I saw Casino Royale on wednesday and it rocks harder than cheese with branston pickle.

It had a few laughable moments like the valeting incident and various others. i thought the bond girls were hot but the first one was pointless and i know it's been said but daniel craig is very original, here's more of a dirty gritty bond as opposed to a silent killer.
Much better than any Pierce Brosnan film and superb comeback from DIE ANOTHER DIE which is crap and worst of the Bond series.

ok ive just watched it in the cinema/

well what can i say.

a big question mark really.

"best bond ever" far from it.

They lose everything that bond was about almost. No gadgets, no cool car, half the characters of gone, no big stunts, A SERIOUS LACK OF ACTION, (this ones picky) intro didnt have cool women silhoutte dancing, they changed the bond turns around and shoot things.

i dont even know what bonds mission was, i get the sub story but the main plot, what was it even about.

Really dissapointing, mainly on the action front, the 2 big action scenes there were, were great, why not more?

im sorry but golden eye is still the best post connery bond film.

This film was just boring, half of it is just him at a table, i at least expected the bad guy to have a special cybernetic eye the way he kept touching it and winning, but he didnt.

OVERHYPED!

the only thing i will give it is, the new actor did a great job at playing the bond role.

Come on, did you want a Roger Moore Bond film or something?

And the car was badass - The whole audience went "noooo!!" when it was totaled. As for the gadgets - They've never defined Bond, and he's more interesting when he isn't relying on them to get himself out of trouble - This movie proves it.

Goldeneye is a great Bond film, but other than Goldeneye I don't think any other Bond film holds a candle to Casino Royale.

The car was pretty cool, it doesn't get much better than an Aston really.
They said from day one the gadgets would be gone and they were, you shouldn't have gone in expecting them.
Which characters were gone? Other than Q (or whatever John Cleese became) who was the gadget man, with no gadgets there's no use for that character.
As for the stunts and action complaint well I have no idea what film you must have watched. The mixture of action and other scenes was just right imo.

The things you complain there weren't enough of in Casino Royale were exactly the excesses that made Die Another Day so terrible.

die another day was too much and they put cheese into it.

i just wanted more action, more guns, bombs etc. This film didnt have it.

They lose everything that bond was about almost.

Bond was about glamourous locations, women, violence. Casino Royale had all three - what ya smokin' bhoi?

Quote
No gadgets

a phone that can track people all over the world, a defibulator in the car, explosive key rings etc etc etc

Quote
no cool car,

er 2 aston martins not cool enough?

Quote
half the characters of gone

damn - cos we all wanted to see the lame slapstick of 'R'

Quote
no big stunts,

yeah whatever

The chase in Madagascar has to be the most impresive Bond sequence ever - and then we had the airport sequence, the building collapse etc etc

Quote
A SERIOUS LACK OF ACTION

The first hour was almost relentless.....watch again!

Quote
(this ones picky) intro didnt have cool women silhoutte dancing,

cos thats why we watched Bond films confused......curiously enough there are plenty of other Bond films that dont feature that either *cough* Goldfinger *cough*

Quote
they changed the bond turns around and shoot things.

as they did in:

Live and let die
The Living Daylights
Goldeneye
Die another day

you missed those films? One word: Blockbuster video

Quote
i dont even know what bonds mission was, i get the sub story but the main plot, what was it even about.

oh my god

Stopping a terrorist winning a hundred million dollars that he'd lost....pretty simple, and you didnt even get that?

Quote
Really dissapointing,

why? U havent given one valid reason yet

Quote
mainly on the action front

cos 2 hrs of explosions isnt enough

go check any of the previous Bond films - maybe Goldeneye and Tommorow never dies competes with action, but none of the rest do - how much action was there in Dr No? Was there any in from Russia with love? Check the ''gaps'' between action sequences in Thunderball, or the Spy who loved me.

Do u even watch these films?

Quote
the 2 big action scenes there were, were great, why not more?

there were three 'big' sequences for a start....

Quote
im sorry but golden eye is still the best post connery bond film.

that didn't have a gadget car, that changed the Bond 'gun' sequence - hell it featured a satelite made after the fall of the Soviet Union with CCCP (USSR) emblazened on it nervous)

Quote
This film was just boring,

fair do's if you think so...

Quote
half of it is just him at a table

i've told u a million times: dont exaggerate. That was a superb psychological battle, sadly it was too intelligent for you...

Quote
,i at least expected the bad guy to have a special cybernetic eye the way he kept touching it and winning, but he didnt.

wow, that would have been cool Roll Eyes

The hell? cybernetic eye?

Quote
OVERHYPED!

perhaps, but hype is relative, i think it was underhyped, they had a diamond but marketed it as gold

Quote
the only thing i will give it is, the new actor did a great job at playing the bond role.

but he just sat at a table for 'half the film' according to you...

Mrlees, the latest bond is much more like the original creation from the books - its more bond than most of the other films.
Also its well on the way to being the most successful film yet, so most people seem to agree! ok

When i watch a bond film i want action, its what bond films are, they have always been big.

This film had, the scene with bond chasing the parkour man, which was good. The airport bomb bit. Those were the only action scenes id consider bond worthy.

The other minor action scene was the little bit at the end. The rest of the film was boring, ok the card game bit was smart but they didnt need to drag it out aslong as they did at all.

Goldeneye did have a gadget car he just didnt use it,however its made up for by a giant tank destroying everything.

I think the film was a let down.
