I didn't see the whole thing through but I know that George Lenzby(sp?) is the only actor that played James Bond just once.

He is a shit Bond, but it's one of my fave films.

He was a model though and they knew hiring him he was a weak untrained actor so they gave him one of the best books, that's why the story is decent, it makes the film quite watchable, it's still, despite him one of my favourites and one i would like them to remake with a decent Bond.

Reviews for Casino Royale are raving about it and how Craig is the best Bond since Connery.......

Yes, reviews have been good - but the intro scenes are in black and white confused

Honestly, all this talk about getting Bond back to the Ian Flemming Bond really pisses me off

...they seem to think its some glorious new idea 'ha, aren't we clever!' they all say

They have now done this on THREE previous occasions

OHMSS, The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill were all 'getting Bond back to basics', striping the gadjets down, bringing in a more 'serious' Bond, closer to the Flemming character

This glorious reboot is nothing of the sort

While i look forward to the film all this back slapping and self congratulating on how original they are being is bullshit - read the press releases for License to Kill, they pretty much cut and pasted the same things straight from there

It's been a long time since I've seen the Lazenby film but I remember thinking he along with the film was pretty crappy when I saw it. Perhaps it would have been different if Connery had done the film.

Those who haven't seen Die Another Day, it's not the worst Bond but it's nowhere near the best either. Goldeneye is by far the best 'new' Bond then I'd say take your pick between the others. Tomorrow Never Dies I found a bit boring, The World is Not Enough was reasonable but nothing special, Die Another Day was way too OTT and probably just about the poorest of the new films.

I've heard Casino Royale is very good, and like you Stoned I heard Craig is supposedly the best Bond since Connery but we'll have to see. I thought Brosnan did a good job though so if Craig can match or better that then he's done ok in my book.

Goldfinger and Goldeneye are my two favourites, For Your Eyes Only and License to Kill are also good Bond films though.

Casino Royale looks amazing - And Daniel Craig might just be the best Bond ever. And this is coming from a diehard Connery/Dalton Bond purist. From what I've seen, he completely nails Bond the way no one else since Connery has.

Either way, it's nice to have the series bounce back after Die Another Day - Quite possibly the WORST film of the franchise.

My personal faves in the series:

You Only Live Twice
The Living Daylights
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Goldeneye
The Man with the Golden Gun (it's silly, but fun)

Craig the best Bond since Connery....

They say that every single time the actor is changed....

Saying Connery is the best is one of those age old cliche's like claiming Citizen Kane is the best film ever - everyone goes along with it like sheep

In Connery's case, it's true. Dalton is my favorite, but Connery is technically still the best because Dalton wasn't quite up to par in the arrogant charm department.

As for your point in general, I agree. In most cases, people are afraid to be different so they just jump on the "original is best" bandwagon.

OMG

Wow

Just wow

This has to be about the best Bond film, hell the best action film i've ever seen

Go see this film now!

Craig IS James Bond, superb performance. Everything about this film is damn near perfect, and the action sequences are just something else.

Craig may not be the most attractive bloke going (but hey what do i know, maybe he is?) - but he is built like a tank, when he punches a bad guy, u know they are going down! Superb acting, real arrogance and menance in the character, excellent stuff

Izzy sez: 9/10. It was only kept from being 10 because i hate all

I've never really enjoyed Bond films before. Would this film be good for a non-Bond fan to watch?
I'm off to see the Tenacious D movie this weekend instead, hopefully the cinema will be nice and empty because of Bond.  ok
