Okay, so by now we've all experienced a recent GNR show.

I saw them twice in New York.

I was thinking though about how Axl hates to tour.

Do you still think that is true?  I do because of the monotony of it all.

I mean, it's the same set list.  The only thing good about that is that it allows people like Ron to get more comfortable playing old GNR tunes and a few new ones.

I would have to think that touring would get very old and boring after awhile.  Think about how your body would react to different time zones, food from different countries, the climate, etc.  Also, living in hotel after hotel and living out of a suitcase with absolutely NO downtime has to be rough.  The band are doing a lot of PR and that also has to get old I would think.

But after July, what happens in August?  Will we have more silence until late fall when album supposedly drops?  Is CD done and ready to be released or is there more recording to do?

I just hope we don't go back to NO news after this sudden burst of GNR shows and pictures and news.

I know some of you would jump at the chance to be a famous musician and tour the world and be popular but I wouldn't.  I value my privacy way too much.

What are your opinions on touring and do you think Axl is tired of it?

No wonder they'd be bored - they play ''new'' songs that are 5 years old and the same set list every week - hell, every single show is identical - ffs guys do something different - play an acoustic set, only play covers, play different instruments, whatever -  but if i have to see the same god damn set list in the same order with the same intros and solo's i think i'll scream

Fair enough if you went to every show you'd want some different each time, but as each show is often a one time only thing for some people, wouldn't the band be doing the fans a service by playing the songs each night?

Yes, the fans love it.

But how does the band feel?? I would tend to think that they and even Axl have to get sick of doing the same shit day in and day out.

And since CD isn't out yet, I don't think we are going to get any new songs because they don't want to risk any more leaks or people to get bootlegs of new songs because then CD will be ruined.

They are perhaps just happy of the practise and the chance to tour the world.

Well remember, Axl's been living in a Hotel for a long time even before the tour in NYC. You know he stays at top of the line hotels, and eats at the best restaraunts, and as far as the time zone thing...hes always in "Axl Time" anyways, so that doesnt make a difference, and we all know he loves to travel...so I think hes enjoying it.

I think this topic is boring  Roll Eyes

You guys rank on Axl and Co. for playing the same set list - yet you guys keep posting the same thing over and over.? What's the next post - Axl's always late, or Axl's voice etc . . .? ?

I really think this is a "Dead Horse" topic?

They've been on tour for less than a month and you think they're bored already?

If they hate playing the songs so much, they can change the set list. ?Roll Eyes

To me it looks like they're having a great time on stage. Axl's in a great mood, making jokes about stuff and the rest of the band are often smiling and laughing.

It's just the trio of songs at the start and PC that is the same each show. They just use them to warm up the crowd. Then they switch song order regularly and audibly debate the next track onstage.

I get what youre saying but you think working in the studio for nine years is more exciting? You get can bored of anything given enough time. Besides Axl does it in style and comfort nowdays, hes getting publicity and giving something to the fans.

Consipracy theory.

I'm not against the old reunion or the new continuing as is without some bumps.

This is probably a new thread (not wanting really to rathole it too much) but.....

What if, hypothetically, Axl struck up agreement through Izzy, and even some other reunion mates,  that he'd play through the summer and PROVE to the others that he could make it lucrative and event/riot free.  He's no dummy, right, and there's certainly alot we don't know.

You have to think with Ron Thal coming in so late that there may just be a master plan.  That is to say after a certain proving ground period, and possibly release of CD, that he puts up with the monotony and current band so much as to be willing to release them all for a reunion tour.

I know this is complete tangent and I don't want it to rathole, but my impression is that personal and business differences aside, Axl has not only to prove to the fans but to old gunners alike that he's completely refined, different personality, and still has it.  I'd expect the same if I were Izzy or any of the others, including Slash.

Thoughts on this?  I know we keep hearing Duff and Slash rumors throughout awards and european festivals, but is this line of thought even a possibility that we've all overlooked?  One that would make the monotony and rigorous tour more an exercise of redemption, proof, and example?

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

My sentiments exactly. The poster is confusing a gruelling two or three year world tour with a tour that has not even lasted a month. Same problem with those constantly whining about the setlist, I am sure people get bored after months and months of playing the same songs, but after a few days on a tour that rarely has back-to-back gigs? This tour has barely begun.

As for Axl, didn't he say he wanted to have the 2nd and 3rd album in the can so that they can just keep on touring? Now why would he do that if he hated touring, hmm?

Yeah, I think Axl likes touring. Hell, youd have to to come out of the UYI alive.
