« on: June 14, 2006, 04:34:10 PM »

I was reading an old guitar  magazine I had bought when velvet revolver came out, they were on the cover, I think the title of the interview with SLash and the boys was called The true Hollywood story of the break up of GNR or somethin like that. Anyway the thing is during the interview Slash talks about when Izzy came to the studio with VR and talked about Izzy would never join the band because he was soo fucked up and hated lead singers because of dealing with Axl. Id like to have seen Slashs face when Izzy showed up in NEw York. All these years we've been hearing Slash tell his side of the story and bashing Axl. Izz and Axl have been through alot together Indiana to LA, and by Izzy showin up to play a few songs with Axl and the boys that shows and proves alot, first that Slash is full of shit, second that Axl and Izzy still get along, thirs Axl and Izzy playin together is more a GNR reunion than any VR show

If you can only talk like an idiot and immature, and completely disrespecting a man that without him (or any of the original members) there would be no GnR. Learn some respect and then try posting again.

All he said was Slash was wrong.. Don't talk like that, because that IS talking like an idiot... Btw, slash wasn't an original member..

Yeah Rob Gardener and Traci Guns was, but that was never what Guns N Roses was, listen to that music, that brief lineup did nothing special.

I'll let you's get on with your topic then if you want to continue talking like that.

first of all I hope this goes to dead horse or VR as it is becoming another Slash thread
second: I really don't care if Slash is full of shit... I actually don't care about Slash at all at this moment... if I did, I wouldn't be on this GNR board (that is a hint) Wink

Dude take a chill pill or something. Don't get mad, because he said Slash was wrong... There was no disrespect, but he could have said it nicer... Oh yeah, this isn't dead horse. It's discussing the GnR break up ACCORDING TO SLASH... That applies to the GnR section..

As far as I know there is no GNR breakup as they are just on tour... it has to do with some members leaving the band and it is dead horse, nhf... Smiley

That article portrays Axl as an asshole, but all you have to do is watch Izzy having fun with Guns N' Roses to see that it's complete bullshit.

Izzy playing a few songs a night for a handfull of shows does not mean he's back in gnr. He doesn't want to commit to being in a huge rock band

Izzy playing three songs a night with Axl is not a GNR reunion. Neither Izzy nor Axl claim it to be.
A Velvet Revolver show is not a GnR reunion. Neither Slash, Duff nor Matt claim it to be. In fact they claim its a completely different band altogether from GnR.

Therefore your last point is as irrelevent as it is bullshit.

As for Slash critisizing Axl, bear in mind that Axl regularly critisized Izzy in the past about moving back to Indiana and not having his amps plugged in and being fucked up all the time, so if Slash if full of bullshit, then so is Axl. I think Izzy is the hero, he has rarely talked shit about the other members in public.

Izzy's comment about hating dealing with lead singers still stands. Three songs a night for nostalgic purposes changes nothing.

oh stop, wasn't an original member... Because traci guns is all so known for his work in guns n roses... Combining a name and working a few months doesn't make anything,,, The cemented lineup that singed the contracts and had ownership of the name and did all the solos is the final original player

The Slash isn't an original member shit arguement is weak.... Listen to hollywood Rose.  That shit sucked. They didn't kick ass or get a record deal until they got the Appetite Line-up.

And just because Izzy palyed a few songs with Axl doesn't make Slash is full of shit.  He didn't join Gn'R and Izzy did want him and Duff to sing the Project.  And yes, Axl talked shit about Izzy for years. I unfortunately went to teh Boston 2002 show and remember Axl talking shit about Izzy there.. Izzy has also talked plenty of shit about Axhole , so I guess they are ALL full of shit..

Izzy and Axl have finally mended their relationship again, but it wasnt always so rosy.  Obviously, each band member has had problems with the other guys in the past and have said bitter things about each other.  But that doesnt mean they're full of shit.  People change, and if they're lucky, they remember what made them friends to begin with.

I read stuff Izzy has said about Axl in interviews, and IMO, none of it is really "talking shit".  It's more like he is just describing what went wrong.  Even Izzy's song 'Take A Look at the Guy', which I assume is about Axl, is not mean-spirited. It's just sad.  At one point, Izzy said about Axl: "yeah, we're friends, we just dont talk anymore".  But they finally got past that stage and are now talking.  Hallelujah.  No one is talking shit, they just had another 14 years from '92 to '06 to heal their friendship.

That's not an Izzy song, that's a Ronnie Wood song from his solo album "I've Got My Own Album To Do". But there are several Izzy songs where the lyrics remind me of Axl:

"Parasite" for example "You're such a loser, you sold my guns".

"Gotta Say" "Tell me what you've got to say, I see thru you anyway".

"Jump In Now"? -> "Why you're so lonely is you piss and you moan, any lessons you're shown, doesn't it show, year after year you keep going nowhere".

Axl said some shitty things about Izzy after he left, he's even admitted it and according to him it's cause he missed him.

I just read the other day in an Izzy interview from late 2001:

Didn't you listen to something of new Guns N' Roses?

No, I just saw a report on them in Q, in England. There was a photograph where Axl was not really to his advantage, he was large and puffed up. I hope that that sounds better than it looks. Axl called me when he had the plan to play Rock In Rio. I don't believe that he hoped to reform the group as a whole because I am the only one that he called, but, in any event, I declined the offer. Maybe he estimated that his group was not good enough, all the same they had rather positive reviews on the whole. Axl is really a special type, he's too hard to manage.

You were involved too much in your own projects to agree to follow him...

Yes, I already had this album in preparation and I prefer to leave on the road with my group, I find everything I need there without problems that occur when you're with Axl...
