What time would you's sugest being at the RDS at to get up front at the stage?

I haven't been to the RDS before but what are the chances of getting in with a digital camera to this? Do they search for these things or what's the story? Wouldn't mind grabbing some shots of GnR on stage and the odd video or two. But don't fancy the chance of getting an expensive camera confiscated if it's the case.

Ah right, Thanks for that. Maybe I'll leave it at home then. Will ask a few friends who may of went to the RDS for any gigs and see if they had any success getting in with a camera

So you guys are saying that there's no chance we can get close to the stage without getting hurt? 
I'm going to the concert in Dublin and the one in Paris.... I wonder which one would be better to at least try getting the closest possible.
Any ideas?

A few questions for anyone who has been to the RDS before. First off when I bought the tickets it was advertised as a GNR gig with Motley Crew supporting.
Is it correct that its now some kind of music festival?
If there are 2 stages will there be another band on at the same time as GNR?
IS there a moshing area closed off from the rest of the arena? If so is the only way to get into the pit by getting their early?
If there is a pit then is everything else seating?
Most importantly can you buy beer there?
Is it outdoor?

I wouldn't go that far, but if you want to get into the pit, (provided there is one) you'll have to expect a bit of a rough time, just people bumping into you, and you'll probably get a bit squashed

Thats how it was at Velvet Revolver and Id expect it to be the same at Guns.

it has been for 4 years, this is the first time its on over 2 days

there is no moshing allowed, that doesnt mean it wont happen, best chance to get into the pit is to get there early

no, there is the pit, then the standing area, then a seated stand all at the main stage, not sure about the 2nd stage

Most importantly can you buy beer there?

of course this is Ireland, it wont be cheap and heineken usually sponsor music events here

yes the main stage is out door, i think the 2nd stage is in a marquee

So annoying, I don't think I can afford the Hammersmith gig on top of everything else. Booked to go see We Will Rock You musical (I like Queen) on the Thurs night before heading through to Stansted Airport for my flight to Dublin.
