Because the chorus blows.

Funny how there's more GN'R in Velvet Revolver then there is in Guns N' Roses.

Axl thinks it's 1987 and he's still promoting Appetite. No point in promoting an album that doesn't have a release date. TWAT did sound good when I heard it live at Hammerstein.

But I think they don't wanna play too many new songs until CD comes out.
Thats what I was thinking, and perhaps, its been picked as the first single. You couldn't pick a better title than There Was A Time as a first single for this band.
I think that song represents the band perfectly.

TWAT is a bong hit single for the hardcore fans, not a radio hit single for the masses!

This isn't a scientific poll, but every "non" gnr fan I played the leaks for loved TWAT the best.
I think it would be a mistake not to release as a single, just like Audioslave not releasing Shadow Of The Sun as a single and opting for What You Are instead was a mistake.

I wish they'd play it more as well, but that's their choice. With the right mix, and a radio edit, the song has the potential to be this band's "November Rain". Great, great song. I loved watching Robin playing his solos in it...

It's possible that nobody in the band can pull of Buckethead's outro
Buckethead plays for well over a minute straight on the outro and it's not easy to replicate, it was a major part of the song so if no one can do it yet that might be why they don't play it

Who knows, I think if it is a big gun, they don't want to screw it up live. I soooo want to hear this song, but not as a jumbled mess
Get practicing boys!

it seems the song is a bit harder to get right in a live setting. i def. think it will be played more in the future. it needs a little practice imo. the version from hammerstein is reason enough for me to believe the potential of a VERY powerful song is there and eventually it will be a staple.

not sure if this has been suggested, but...
axl's last few notes in the outro are amazing, but also...i imagine....are killer to pull off on the vocal cords, maybe even more damaging then the intro to jungle. and w/o the last few notes, that outro wouldn't be as perfect. maybe thats why they're not playing it....
