After GH do you think the gigs had new fans there?

taking in the queue last night about this,
there looked like quite a few younger kids who wouldn't have even been born the last time GN'R released a record,
do you think the release of the 'Greatest Hits' album in 2004 would have had any effect on the people attending this tour compared to the 2002 "pre-GH tour".
i know loads of people that never gave GN'R the time of day before that record came out and now they want to see them live too.
there was a good selection of people at hammersmith though, nice to see some t-shirts from the older tours on people's backs, i've been a fan since 1991 and seeing the T2 video for 'You Could Be Mine' and thinking it was the coolest thing ever but being 11 at the time was too young to ever get to see GN'R until 2002!

Yes I'm actually quite sure of it.  One personal instance is my friend that I used to work with and I were at Best Buy one night and he was just getting into rock.  He was a rap fan because it was the cool stuff to listen to, but when he started hanging with me he found his rock side.  Anyhow he couldn't tell you one thing about GNR, but when he saw Greatest Hits he was like...>GNR these guys are good right and I'm just like heh, yeah man.  So he got it and started rocking out to it and all of a sudden you hear him pulling into work with it blaring.  So it made him a fan and definitely did it's job.

Definately, GH was what got me truely into GNR I was only a casual fan before that. I know a lot of people objected to a GH release but it had it's benefits from my point of view

I can tell you The GH has made LOTS of new old band fans and Slash fans for sure, wich is absolutely logical.
I don't think it has had an impact on the new band, people are not stupid, even young teenagers know who Slash is and who plays guitar on the GH album.

Yeah I had always had respect for GNR's music as I was growing up but the greatest hits got me hooked.

Same although my mum didnt make me listen to them but AFD came out around the time I was born and the last ever GNR show with old lineup in 93 was on my birthday, it's like I was destined to like them lol

humm, talking for myself... I?m 17, so yeah I was born in 1989, I wasn?t even born when GN?R were formed, and was too young to appreciate their greatness in the late 80s and early 90s. So, what made me a GN?R fan if when I was old enough to hear music lol, there was no GN?R anymore? Well, first I think it was by brother?s influence that was a fan since the Illusions days, when he was 12 or something lol. He would sing Knocking on Heavens door like 50 times per day so I learnt those lyrics when I was like 6 . Well but then we grew up, my brother started liking another rock bands and I started hearing pop music : / lol just like any other 14 years old girl. But then, 2 years ago I found rock and my life changed.(yeah, very dramatic indeed lol). And then, GN?R came in? and yes, it was the Best-of as you said. It came out in 2004 and I was like, what? I know this guys lol. Then I heard the songs, and felt like I has been hearing them for years? I heard that cd exhaustively for months lol, I couldn?t get fed up of that. And then, of course, I started wanting to hear more and to know more, the usual u know? as it happened to u .. So I got all the discography, started searching (that?s how I found this board)? and now I?m here, after seeing them at RiR (I went with my brother who is an anti new GN?R- he liked it, I know Axl was his hero when he was young but yeah, he, and I as well, just would kill to see those guys together again, so I feel like a fan yes? but yeah, nothing compared to most of you guys? cos for you, I might be just a noob lol? And maybe that?s what I am, but even knowing that I dunno as much as you do about GN?R, you can be sure that I love the band just as much as you do.

Well it's not just greatest hits that gets people into GN'R today.

I became a GN'R fan last year after my friend told me to checkout this solo... He told me it was from Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses so I checked the gunners out.

That?s not necessarily true. Say you are 16/17 and only know a few songs from the radio and were just a baby during the Illusion album, you aren?t gonna know who?s who in the world of GN?R.
