in todays Kerrang! they mention Guns n'Roses and the up and coming shows. There's 2 thing's mentioned i never knew.

1.They mention back in the day, as GnR was getting together Slash was carving out quite a successful career in BMXing (bet he is glad he stuck to rock band route).

2.Someting about Izzy going over to Axl's impresive house all ready to get back with GnR and expecting Axl to give him a big hug. Instead Axl pointed a gun at him and told him to get off his property (maybe Axl knew nothing about Izzy's invite).

Point 2. how old is this story? was this Izzy getting back with the new GnR or the UYI GnR. It could all be BS

1) Was referring to Slash riding his bike all the time before shows.  he was always doing tricks and such.

2) I don't know about that. Undecided

The 2nd one I've heard before and seems to be true. Maybe a hardcore fan here can elaborate on that story?

They are both true but Axl didnt point a gun at him. He just looked at him through the security cam and never came out to him. Izzy then left. According to Dizzy Reed this happened 3 or 4 times.

Except on Izzy's birthday this year...

Axl finally decided to peel himself off the security room Lazy Boy recliner and go make up with his long lost friend... hihi

I thought Slash's BMX past was common knowledge. "I used to be a pro BMX'er -- thirteen and over, then fifteen and over -- so I follow this stuff," says Slash. "When you talk about Dogtown, I used to take over the pools. . ."

As far as the other thing goes, I don't know of any quotes to substantiate the shotgun bit, but the 'meeting' did take place. Here's their take on it:

"He rang and said, 'Will you still write with us?' and asked me to come over to his house. I walk up and he comes out and starts screaming, 'Get off my property!' I thought, 'You fucking little hayseed redneck trailer trash son of a bitch.' What a dick. I drove away feeling like a mountain had been taken off my back." - Izzy

"You wanna know how he really hurt me? When he came up here to my fucking house and acted like, 'What's wrong, man?' It's really weird; I knew he was coming. I could literally feel his car driving up as I was getting dressed. I went outside and sat down, because Izzy couldn't come into my house. I couldn't act like he was my friend after what he'd done to me." - Axl

Thats bullshit about Izzy. I have an interveiw with Izzy when he talks about deciding to call unexpectedly up on axl after all those years.

He said axl embraced him and it was all good, but a couple of days later axl phoned him up and started calling him out on things izzy had said in years gone past.
Izzy said he could hear axl flicking through a notebook saying "on such and such a date you said this blah blah blah".
Izzy found it bizarre, and commented he found axls existance and life style at that point in time very odd and lonely. this was in the late 90's.

Axl and Izzy have known each other since school and have been through it all together, they have had they're fall outs, some bitter, but there is a special bond there. I do not believe axl would have turned him away from his door even at the bitterest of times when he left GNR -remember he came back when Gilby broke his wrist.

When Izzy joined Axl on stage in New York, it wasn't quite a "GNR Moment", it was a special moment between 2 long estranged friends.

GNR is Axl and Izzys band remember.

Slash and Steven were buddys, just like Axl and Izzy were buddys.

The casual GNR fans think that Axl and Slash were the heart and soul of the band, and cant bare too think they no longer get along.
But really they were just collegues, who had their images used to market the band. They were never ever close friends.

Great post. I think you summed it up rather nicely, I could not agree more.

Great post and I agree wtih most of it.

In regards to the Axl/Slash comment - the impression I have is that Axl and Slash were the big driving force behind the music of GnR. Axl/Izzy wrote the lyrics but it was Axl and Slash who were in the studio who were trying new things with the production and stuff.

Yes but I mean, casual GNR fans, the media commentators etc, when they think of GN'R, they think of Axl and Slash - they dont know just what the actual contributions of each member was, even though we do.

They just want to see Axl and Slash on stage together again. Its like Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Mick Jaggar and Keith Richards -its an image that is permeated onto the public concience.

They see the image and have a preconceived notion that these 2 are like estranged brothers or something, they just dont have the inside knowledge that on a personal level is only really Axl and Izzy who have a very close bond, with a long history.

I can see Axl possibly doing that, I have met several people, that actually have kept journals and detailed all the shitty things their supposed friends have ever said about them behind their back and all the times they had felt let down by someone. I thought it was wierd when I met the first girl who did that, but then one of my long time friends told me he did the same thing... hihi
