Well dave, is it not true that Axl is the sole owner of the GNR name?  Remember he fairly (according to you) bought the rights to the name from the old members?  So as far as I am concerned, these ideas came to fruition because he had to sign the dotted line somewhere.  Bottom line is that GNR (aka Axl) and the rest of those bands you listed are milking their names to maximize their bottom lines.  There is nothing wrong with that, but for those of you talking about how Tommy is milking this fight for publicity or whatever, you need to remember that Axl Rose is the king of milking his fans out of money through shitty merchandise (which sadly I would bet a lot of you own).

Axl was the one who wouldn't let WTTJ in Black Hawk Down.  He was also involved in not letting Slash and Duff use GNR songs in other films, commercials, whatever because it would damage the integrity of the GNR name.  But when it comes to merchandise he has absolutely no say in how their logo and likeliness is used?  And on top of that one of the big reasons why he has no say in it is because MANAGEMENT (not the record label) are using it to somehow fund the costs of CD???  Well if that were truly the case, then wouldnt we have had WTTJ in Black Hawk Down?  And wouldnt we have GNR songs in random commercials all the time?  You put Oliver Stone to shame my friend.  I think you should remake JFK because there were some things I did not like about it the first time.
